What would happen?

If the FA suspended/cancelled the rest of the season due to all these teams now reporting Covid cases? Where would we end up? How tragic would it be if, as we're doing well, we missed out on a promotion based on that?
Anybody any thoughts on this?

And, how many teams this time around wouldn't survive the financial implications of it happening again...

We’d be 11th - ahead of the Jaffa’s

Tranmere were a form team last season when it stopped - no different for us

Increasing Covid outbreaks does seem to suggest that season may be suspended at some point

just keep winning until they say stop. Fingers crossed

I really don't think they could end it on PPG at this point in the season. That really would be ridiculous considering how little of the season has been played.

There was debate against PPG with a handful of games left. That really would be a tough nut to crack figuring out what to do, I'm sure the EFL would handle it marvellously..

Although there must be a risk of the season not being completed, I'd suggest there would be a lot more games needed to be played before if the season was curtailed that the tables at that point would be taken with regards to promotion and relegation.

I think we talked about this at the start of the season and I'm amazed the EFL didn't come up with a plan whereas by everyone agreed to what would happen in this eventuality. That said, you'd like to think by March that we'll be in a very different situation to now whereas by the season can be finished.

There is no way promotion and relegation would be decided with a third of games played. If anything, the season would be written off with no change in levels and a fresh start next August. Can't see it though.

It would be cheaper to privately pay for vaccinating all players and staff which would allow the season to continue.

Given that there is no home crowd advantage or very little then once all teams have played once I guess that could be a default and the season could be based off that

We need to get a wiggle on

The EFL should have said at the start of the season that a certain number of games, maybe 75%, would have to be played before PPG was used. But that would have taken some planning and we all know they are no good for that.

This was also a good opportunity to re-jig the calendar for 2 or 3 seasons with the World Cup being in November 2022 but that was also missed.

It’s probably safe to assume a few more clubs will have to start postponing blocks of games which will lead to a big backlog of fixtures in March & April.
