When does a poor run become a worrying run?

a good question that I can't definitively answer. It will end when we start to create more chances and give our strikers opportunities to take them. This weeks team selection will be interesting because I'm sure Critch realises we aren't creating and scoring enough goals. Our "goals for" column proves that.

We need to recreate the form shown against Reading & Blackburn (first half) now whether that was because of how those teams were set up I don’t know. We’ve got most of the same players available.

I don’t think we’re on a poor run personally. A point away at Swansea is a good result. Draw at home to WBA is a good result. We would have beaten QPR had it not been for some shocking officials. Brum should really have been a draw and we could have won - but we did the same thing to Sheffield United.
Birmingham is the only ‘poor’ result.

We haven't won in 5, so the quicker we fix that, the better. Conversely, the longer that run goes on, the more concerned we should be. Personally, i don't think it will last much longer as I think our performances have been better than results in November. And there were times in October where the results were better than performances.

As 20's says - the key to improvement is creating more chances and scoring more goals. No reason it can't start on Saturday, but there's no need to panic if it doesn't. If the squad maintains the hunger, work ethic and good habits that have got us 27 points to date, then we'll get our rewards.

I'm not going to get worried until after Christmas, I'm expecting the usual slump. If we don't start winning a few games fro January on then I'll get concerned.

It's very unlikely that we'd go through the whole season in a higher league without a few bad patches. We had one at the beginning of the season and one now. I'd say particularly our goals scored at home record is a concern. We've scored only 7 in 10 games at home, and failed to score in half of them.
I'd be worried if I didn't have confidence in the manager and the owner to solve the problem. But I do, so I'm not.

I'd be worried if we were playing badly. But we aren't. Critch tried something we weren't expecting last weekend, and it didn't work. Sometimes he tries things we aren't expecting, and they work. But there seem to be far fewer "maybe I don't know more than the manager after all" type posts when he pulls something off than there are "I know more than the manager" type posts when he doesn't.

We're in 11th place in the Championship. Cheer up!

My hope this season was to stay out of the bottom three, if it looks like that might not happen then it becomes a worrying run of results. Right now I am still fairly relaxed about the situation.

Have I been watching another team who happens to play in tangerine in the championship or something? We lost the last game 1-0 away from home to a team that’s been surviving in the championship for several years.

We’ve had loads of first teamers out or literally just returned from injury, were not even playing that badly, we don’t ship a lot of goals, granted we’re not scoring many; but I truly believe that we’re learning quickly, our fans are f****ing incredible and passionate, the club is developing in terms of the bigger picture, we are run by a home grown actual fan and not some oil monger from a neutral territory and I would like to just acknowledge that I’m enjoying this season a lot. I’m a proud Seasider and it feels great to actually be able to say that and mean it for the first time in God knows how long!

Let’s see what happens on Saturday. Will we kick on or not? I believe.

Well said Hazi
I’ll bet no-one on this forum would have expected us to be where we are in the league at this stage of the season.
As far as I’m concerned we are on a great run.

Yup short bursts of form should be ignored in terms of a wider picture.

We have only conceded 4 goals in the last 7 games. Very narrow margins at the moment.
And I think it's worth pointing out that two of those four were brilliant long range efforts (Swansea and QPR). We've only conceded 2 in the last 7 that I would possibly class as poor defending.

We all seem to be obsessed with results these days. The performances against Swansea away, QPR and West Brom were top notch. Officials robbed us vs West Brom.
Stoke and Brum obviously could have been better.
More annoyed by Brum because that was good opportunity for a win and we fooked up the starting 11

Think you'll find it was QPR not WBA where the officials robbed us.;)

No win in 5 isn't great, but no need to panic, as my wish for this season is to finish outside the bottom 3.
A win today please, in this hooley weather (that isn't for softies), will be most welcome ;)

Still 9 points off the bottom three and I'd want that maintaining between now and the end of the season
Derby and Posh are now on poor runs and I'd say if we don't get a win from either of those then a few bottoms might well be twitching.

This season was all about staying up and if we can get to the halfway point of the season (5 games time) still 3 wins ahead of the bottom three then that should make for a comfortable second half where Critch can start to build for next season.
