When we work it forward into promising positions....

Why oh why do we hesitate, not try and beat a man or cross it maybe even shoot.

Too much we take the 'safe' option and go back onto to them be pressed and have to go long and lose and and completely waste that whole period of play.

Happens a bit too much for me and was very annoying tonight.

We have to take more risks once we get up there.

Few changes for Sat and a few fresher legs into the mix maybe to shake it up....

Who do you bring in?
Its limited but we can at least rest a few who have played non stop.

Maybe Turton needs a rest, one of the midfield, although not ideal timing and we need to win but would Robson come in for Dougall. I'd rather he didn't but the bigger picture may be worse in that they could be running on empty..

We have Holmes chomping at the bit and Jerry plays every game and may be fatigued mentally if not physically.

Husband, Ekpiteta could maybe come in and our defence might be fresher for some changes at some point.

Sure. Our rotation options are limited at the minute but we have Robson, Husband, Gabriel, Ekpiteta.

The main issues I think are with Yates and Dougall. Two players who are high energy and have played every game for a while and are pretty crucial to our success. Robson might need to step in. Holmes, I've no idea how ready he is for senior football. It's a big jump from where he's been so far. I'd be more inclined to use Simms up top with KK, Embo and Demi supporting I think, to rest Jerry.

How did our squad get so small? It was massive and we are 'only' missing 6 players. Gretarsson, Stewart, CJ, Virtue, Madine and Anderson. We really do need Stewart, Madine and Keshi back asap. If possible.

I was surprised we didn't start with Gabriel last night considering how high Turton was playing, he was acting like a bloody wingback flying up the pitch - surely Gabriel is more suited to that role?

The worrying thing is there were very few promising positions. The role for Embleton and Kaikai in this team should be one of creator and they failed spectacularly.
Simms has had some grief on here but he was making runs without getting the ball, so not disinterested but frustrated.
Ward has performed admirably as a partner to Dougall in defensive midfield, maybe push him further forward and let Robson be part of defensive midfield.
So drop Kaikai and Embleton for Ward and Mitchell.
Turton has done little wrong but replace him with Gabriel.

I wouldn't worry too much about last night, we still looked well organised and didn't concede too many chances. We just lacked cutting edge and seemed hesitant in the final 3rd. I'm sure when they review the game they'll recognise they could've moved the ball a little quicker and that our delivery was unusually poor. Considering the quality we normally provide our strikers it was just one of those nights.

Probably been mentioned on previous threads, attack, take people on & when you have a crossing opportunity just concentrate on putting a better ball in without overplaying & losing the momentum then going backwards. God knows what my neighbour must have thought if he was sat outside last night with me shouting at the tv in the conservatory GO FFING FORWARD, It drives me mad when it ends up with our back 4 after a crossing opportunity was wasted Grrrr

We miss a fit CJ waaaaayyyyy more than most people think. Just one player who runs at the opposition with pace can open up the defence every time.

We certainly miss his pace at times, last night there was a prime example where someone put a ball over the top and Turton was chasing and their player got there before him - I thought if that was Hamilton he gets on that and its a great chance to score.

I felt we were overly, and completely reliant on him earlier in the season. But now we're a better overall unit it'd be so beneficial having him in the squad.

I was expecting last night to be tight and was prepared for us not winning. We need a mental and physical refresh. We out a lot into the Sunderland game. You saw Lincoln's energy after their 'Covid' break. We ran out of steam and players, they didn't. If we can crawl over that line into the playoffs we'll get a bit of a break before the semi, I think?

According to Critchley we dominated. We didn’t concede too many chances, just the one that mattered.

After the tenth useless cross hit the first defender I shouted "STOP HITTING HIS ** HEAD!" at earsplitting volume at the TV. The current Mrs _GT was highly bemused 🤦‍♂️ 🤣 👍
She had a point though, the comment doesn't even make sense out of context! 😗 🏝️🤸‍♀️

I'm glad I wasn't the only one shouting at a screen everytime our crosses failed to beat the 1st man. 🤣🤣

We have too many one footed players who turn back to get it on their strongest side.

And we did, to be fair. Dominated possession, but didn't do much with it.

Indeed. My idea of dominating possession involves entering the opposition's half of the field and not just your own. Watching the centre halves passing it side to side, forward to Ward or Dougall, then back ad infinitum is not in anyway entertaining.

As I recall, we dissed MK Dons for doing exactly the same.

Completely agree. Our players seem to have been drilled to only make risk-free passes.

All of this is got debate, but the style of play has had us top of the form charts for the past 31 games and into 5th place

I wouldn’t rip up our plans on the back of one bad game or two. Man City lose and they rotate a few players but their style remains the same.

Not saying we are Citeh but let’s not panic just yet. Drop Simms, push Dimi right, Embo into Number 10 role and go again

The frustrating thing for me was playing it at the back (as proved with @Insider's stats) and looking for the perfect ball. Even at the end, and Michael Jackson pointed it out, we'd brought on a big lad up front and rather than get the ball up front Maxwell was playing it to his defenders.
