They have been removed for safe keeping and will be there when needed.
Have they been placed under the assets of some sort of in no way dodgy shell company that has no other assets, employees and doesn't appear to have any function?

Possibly. I’m guessing they are planning for a retirement in Malaga as we speak.

They were scrapped as Google analytics found they were creating a more chilled msg board & a far calmer internet experience in general.

Arguments & controversy increase both traffic and advertising revenue & without this there is far less money to line Mr Googles pockets.
If they were still around we would not be discussing the issue so less traffic.

Google also invented Covid, Brexit, Terrorism & were largely responsible for getting Trump into power as all are great internet money spinners😜
 
Here's an interesting fact. When facebook expanded their emoji responses from a simple thumbs up, it was an attempt to find out more about user behaviour. What they discovered was that people spend more time responding to what makes them angry and thus more time on Facebook.

Thus they introduced the algorithm that 'feeds' you with contentious stuff at certain points and therefore keeps you site.

They were scrapped as Google analytics found they were creating a more chilled msg board & a far calmer internet experience in general.
