Which city has produced the best music?

Kavala City has it's own symphony orchestra which at best sounds like Les Dawson playing all the wrong notes on his piano. 🙁

London and evirons for its sheer size.

New York for the same reason.

Sheffield certainly punches above its weight.

But for me it has to be Manchester.

gotta be Manchester... even if you aint a fan of all these bands...

joy division / new order (well salford) 808 state, The Smiths, Happy Monday, Stone Roses (kinda of) Guy called Gerald, Buzzocks, The Fall, Courtneeers, Chemical Bros, Simply Red. James, NFads, Take That!!! Badly Drawn Boy, Oasis.. and a huge influence on both the Northern Soul and Acid House scene ...

Jethro Tull.

Keyboards for both Soft Cell and Pet Shop Boys. Wherever they are from is from the crucible of music.

The Cure

If only we knew where.

I believe it was Pavarotti who said ‘all pop is naught but sophistry, except of course the bloke what did they keys from Softcell’

Music from people actually from the area? Manchester has to be right up there, Nashville and Detroit were just where the studios and labels were, the artists weren't from there.
