Who went to this game?

I missed Steve Morgan's goals because I was still outside trying to get in.
I remember the 1st leg, I was in the Scratchers. I then bought the video of the game as you could back then from the club. I remember the classic line from our “commentator” on said video when we scored......”stick that in your pipe and smoke it Geordies”.

We went St James Park for 2and leg. Temporary stand behind the goal. I remember more about pre match beers. A wonderful pint of stones bitter, which I didnt think existed. Hadn't noticed how the pub had filled up. Everyone in black & white bar us. Then a rather large gentleman asked me for a light. Noticed all his mates were smoking. Time to go.
On the pitch think we were on top for 2 minutes but peaked to early 🥺

Mirandinha. I remember watching him on the live game giving Lawrenson a head start the week before, and wondering who on earth we had that could cope with him.

As I recall, a combination of Walshy and the other CH (was it Dave Jones), he barely got a look in at home. Made up for it at St James of course.

If I remember the right game then the police sent a convoy of motorbikes to escort coaches back to the M6 to make sure nobody could stop for a beer.

Remember being kept on the coaches for far too long by the police meaning by the time we had got in we had missed our goal, very annoying

Travelled from London with Basil by car I think. I remember Newcastle fans buzzing about Mirandinha
Also travelled from London by car. For the final stretch of the journey, we were followed by police. They pulled us over and asked where we had been. It was funny watching them work out that we must have averaged nearly 90 mph!

Went by car four of us for this night match.

Morgan had scored just before we got in.

Remember being mixed in with Newcastle fans in temporary stand, high up with no roof.
Was it called The Leasers End?

The Geordies were “sort of” ok most of the game but started getting a bit nasty.

When they scored the fourth the four of us got up, I said see you lads, and a couple reciprocated.

Then a bunch above them shouted at us “F.... Off” before your in an ambulance.....Nice🙄

We got to the the car without any more hassle, and got home via a pub for couple on route home, not sure where we stopped but I know it was about 30 minutes on the way home.
Fond memories (Well sort of🤣) 🚌#88

It would have been Paul Jones. I played against him in the North West Counties league just after his pro career ended. Still had class and great positional sense despite being on the way down.

Hadn't he played in Sweden or something before signing for us? Don't know why I remember that.

Based on their equaliser, it was Skully at the back with Walsh.

Scunner, that's exactly as I remember it your dead right. I was on one of them. Missed Morgan's goal and also the first Newcastle one, as was still queueing to get in having only left a boozer in Hexham at 7.00pm !!.

Think we got him from Oldham. There's an IKEA there. 🤔

Just seen his WIKI page, he made an England squad whilst at Bolton but didn't get on the pitch.

Yep Old Walshy had Mirandinha on toast the first game.

I was actually in St Annes, I was seeing a lass from there and had gone up from Watford on my days off. She was lovely, much more exciting than football!
