Who would you build a new statue after?

You receive a phone call from Simon Sadler, he tells you he put all of the names of fans who bought a ticket to a game last season in a hat and pulled out your name.

The plan is to allow a fan to decide who a new statue outside of Bloomfield Road should be likened after. Who do you choose and why?

For me it'd be Joe Smith
  • Manager from 1935 - 1958 (714 games in charge)
  • Took us from the 2nd division to the 1st in his 2nd season in charge. Where we remained for the rest of his tenure.
  • 1 FA Cup win (3 Finals)
  • In 49/50 season, we finished a mere 4 POINTS behind Portsmouth to win the First Division Title.
  • In the 55/56 season, we finished 2nd in the league behind Manchester United. Our highest ever League finish.
When I read into Joe Smith's record, I was shocked at the lack of commemoration of this man who did so much for the club.

When I was thinking about this I wondered in the future if we had an era of success under Sadler, whether having a statue of an owner would be an acceptable a thing.

Which then reminded me of the time Fulham had a statue of Michael ** Jackson outside Craven Cottage so I guess anything goes 😂

Karly boy so we could chop it off at the ankles

It would have felt great for a classic revolution style pulling down of a statue. Thankfully they didn't have that much of a commemoration around Bloomfield Road, if I remember right their names were removed from the plaque in the Armfield stand?

I wouldn't have one. Where is it going to go?

tbh, the outside wants a rethink if finances ever allowed. It's Bland Central.

Totally agree he deserves recognition for his fabulous achievements.

I would have one of fans with a NAPM more banner, like the old soviet workers ones. Just so any owner knows that they may own the club now but it will always belong to us.

I‘m confident we have an owner for my lifetime I could only dream of.
Let‘s hope his inheritances catch the bug.🙏

Instead of a statue,I would have a mosaic mural of the FA cup winning side, something along the lines of the pic on first page.

They were still there when I last went to a game.

Sir Arthur Harris. Used to see him in the Bierkeller after home games wearing a tangerine tie. He would down a few jaegerbombs then start singing “ Hitler’s only got one ball.”

I’d feel sorry for any statue plonked in the NE corner.

Like someone else said further up, the whole outside of the stadium needs redesigning, with proper walks ups to the stadium, lighting statues etc. I know it’s not the top of the priority list but full confidence that all this will get done.

The next statue should be Matthews to be consistent with the existing 2 that have also got stands named after them. We should then need to consider a 4th player to name a permanent 4th stand and fourth statue after - for me it would be Suddick

Can we please leave this obsession with Charlie Adams out of it, he did really well for us and as such will always be remembered for his short time with us. However he does not deserve (sorry but true) to be mentioned on this post about Blackpools finest. Rant over, again sorry 😡😡😡😡
