Why do Sky Sports hate us ?

See yet again none of our games picked for transmission. Yet QPR and Forrest on all the time. Must be something going back to the Oyscum years. QPR must have been on several times already and picked again a few times. Glad I don’t subscribe to Sky anymore.

Considering the atmosphere generated by our fans, attractive football and league position, then its blindingly obvious that Sky has a bias against us.
Im surprised the Pool hierarchy wont have said anything as all other teams are having a financial advantage.

FFS Reading, Cardiff, Birmingham and Swansea all have much more than us.

It basically shows a lack of understanding from the lump heads at sky.
They obviously think showing Londons finest championship club over and over again guarantees higher viewing figures rather than showing entertaining matches.
It's like always having Citeh, Liverpool and Chelsea on the prem matches.
Not looked at the chart posted but I'll bet WBA, Bournemouth, QPR and Fulham are top.
The championship throws up more rogue results than the other three divisions, if they're going to show those 4 teams all the time show them against the lesser fancied team where you'll either see the bigger clubs winning handsomely or a shock result.

But we all know fuck all is fair where Sky's concerned. How many game were we shown in the premier league?🤷‍♂️

Sky aren't stupid they couldn't give a toss about individual clubs they want viewing figures and subscriptions that comes with advertising revenue.
We obviously don't fit the criteria.

Agree. Someone in the scheduling department clearly is clinging onto piss poor knowledge about the club. Surprised the club haven't said anything. If I were Sadler I'd be getting the social team to put out a number of memes and humorous posts about not being on Sky.

"Preston North End will be in the Premier League before Blackpool are next scheduled to appear on Sky Sports."

"Scientists have calculated that Blackpool will be next scheduled on Sky Sports 3 days after global warming consumes the planet earth"

"The Queen's 70th anniversary as monarch is only 4 years short of the last time Blackpool appeared in a league game on Sky Sports"

The year we went up in 2010, I think we were only on Sky twice in the season before the play-offs.

Knobbers at home and the last day for Bristol City. Sums it up.

Think the problem is that they are only interested in ratings. The sport is absolutely incidental to them.
Agreed, but that is when that view goes to pot, when you have Reading, Millwall and Peterborough appearing regularly.

The continual showing of QPR is obscene, they even have Warburton as a pundit tonight.

They are still holding it against us for the coverage of that Cardiff walk out game , they didn't like the atmosphere, and they certainly didn't like getting involved in legal action of them showing the picture of ---------- holding up the " We are thieves " newspaper cutting . I was told at the time by a sky rep that it would cost us , and it has .

They knew what they were getting.

And we were right.

And if it wasn't for the uneven distribution of TV revenues as a result, I wouldn't give a toss.

And the Burnley game 😉

I believe we are only contracted to 2 games this season which is decided at the start of the season. Expect it to change next year

I also think a lot to do with it is 'carbon footprint'. During the transfer deadline programming they were keen to stress that they were trying, as a far as possible, to commit to a nil / negligible carbon footprint. Thus doing a lot of interviews and screening in their swanky offices' lobby.
Bringing a team to Bloomfield Road probably gives them a carbon headache.

It’s not personal it’s just purely a ratings thing. If they thought we could boost ratings we would be on in a heartbeat. Sky pay millions for the rights to show these matches and can do pretty much whatever they want.
They showed Cardiff v Middlesborough instead of Preston Blackpool. Suggests to me either their don't know their audience or they don't like us.

There's no way on this planet they'd get more viewership for Cardiff v Middlesborough on a Sunday lunchtime than Blackpool v Preston.

What do you mean by “would cost us?”
I don’t have Sky, or if I did, I would not be watching because I would be there.

ok, yeah. I know they pay a fee to televise but if they want teams on that do not play attractive football, would viewers bother?

Is there a complaints method?

Few things;

It doesn't matter and to he honest I prefer it as it means we don't have silly kick off times that mean many exiles can't get to the match

We are a relatively small club in this league so viewing figures wouldn't be as high as some of the bigger clubs

With our recent history being so chequered and the ability of our fans to be so defiant when the cameras have been about it probably makes them a bit nervous

Cardiff and Burnley spring to mind as does the Arsenal Cup game with the boycott and the disruption of the Arsenal bus

Anyway I'm glad as it means I can attend more games, can't beat a 3pm kick off, time long may it continue

Fair point. They might massively dislike it when they select a club to broadcast and the fans use that platform to protest and disrupt the game and they don’t forget easily.
Could even be a logistics issue, for example I know they come over on a Friday night when showing us whereas with QPR down the road they might be able to do it in a day, who knows. It is strange though.

Hate Sky, always have. Obviously QPR and Fulham are easy for their production team to get to from Twickenham or nearby where they're based. They're too scared to go to Millwall - get all their stuff nicked. Some ignorant tosser will sort the schedules there.

It suits me. No disruption to travel plans.
The money would be useful of course, but we are little Blackpool. We'll beat who we want.

One stand is a conservatory and the rest is an asbestos infested hellhole in the back garden of a terraced house.
I think my point is that out of all of the stands currently in the championship, our east is probably the worst in terms of infrastructure and facilities

Anyone got the figures from when we were in the Prem? I can only think of two games bar the final match of the season where they covered us.

I believe we are contracted to 2 games only this season. West Brom would have been contracted about 20 probably
