Wigan Athletic v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 26.01.21

We definitely grew into the game and in the end were far too much for Wigan.

Inpressive considering all the people out, about time we put some chances in net.

Question is would you change it much now for Saturday?

The lads who have played kind of deserve a shot at Saturday, not played much as a team so starting slowly can be excuses but finished well on top.

Great result as we’ve struggled against teams we thought we’d be beating. Shame I didn’t go with my old 5-0 prediction, I got it right once (Scunthorpe) 👍👍👍👍👍

Amazing, we've been due smashing a team!

Thorniley has grasped his opportunity.
Simms with a brace on his 2nd game, LOVELY!
Madine shit hot as usual.
Apter with a corner of top quality, straight out the youth team!

Could go on and on, games like that are what make sitting through the losses worth it. YOUUUUUU POOOOOOOOOL!
All correct. Yes, they were a poor team but we did the right things and...well, you've said it.

I’ve felt really low today. Joy of my daughters birthday yesterday over, supposed to be going on a long planned CHILD FREE 3 days in Krakow tomorrow for my wife’s birthday tomorrow, work colleagues doing my head in with their constant whinging today and just general lockdown rubbish.

I treated myself to a couple of beers watching tonight and that has really made me feel better. Thanks to the lads in Tangerine.

I'm not wrong about Turton. And Virtue was playing shit? I am delighted for him? But if someone is playing shit?

Imagine saying to someone don't be precious and then come out with absolutely beyond pathetic comments like that.
I am not going to argue with you anymore but clearly Neil Critchley (our manager) doesn't agree with your view of Ollie Turton. And with all due respect I would rather trust his judgement than some guy off the internet.
Why are you so desperate to be right?
Football is a game of opinions, yes, but actually on here we are all amateurs.
And that is why it is funny when Virtue does something like score a great goal after what you had been saying and most of us would actually show some humility at that point.
We are league 1, our players are going to be inconsistent, especially when they don't play regularly like Virtue. Form also comes and goes.
Anyway I'm out.

Because, I said if we want to go up we need better than Turton, it's really not difficult is it. I based it on stats and statistics. Watch Gabriels performances and arguably 2 MOTM performances in a row.

Not desperate to be right, I didn't mention Turton. You did.

Unbelievable result but it has been coming with all the chances we have missed this season!!

Full credit to the manager and all the players for producing a performance like that with all the players out due to injuries and COVID. We do get some good results at Wigan!! 👍🏻

Haven't commented all game but read most of the comments posted.
You can only beat what's put in front of you and considering this was a makeshift side (apparently), I thought Blackpool played very well.
Maxwell very rarely troubled , did what was expected when called upon
The back four were solid and a special mention for Thorniley who I thought played exceptionally well.
The midfield were workman like couldn't fault any of them. Lovely goal from Virtue.
Madine and Yates were a handful all night, Bez having his best game in a tangerine shirt tonight although he's still prone to the odd hiccup 😁
The substitutes who came on all did their jobs well.
Simms, hopefully is the striker we've been crying out for all season, yeh two close range goals but you've got to be there to get em! Well done Rob Apter bit of 1st team experience and an assist to boot👍🏻
Didn't get to see too much of Stewart to make an opinion and Oh yeh Sully came on too😁
Great night and an excellent team performance 👍🏻
