Wigan messageboard

They seem to be back at square one, as I understand it. And if they don't come out of administration before the start of next season they are in real danger of being expelled from the EFL - because you aren't allowed to start two successive seasons in administration.

It's to be hoped that the EFL will take a very close look at the performance of Begbies when they review this case.

DW did offer to help out when the administration was originally announced

Is that not still an option - at least short term ?

I don't know Tim, it may be. But it isn't a long-term answer, and the club's future is currently in the balance, as I understand it.

If you go on the PLW message boards, they think that the administrators are a big part of the problem. It certainly puts the performance of our Receiver in a new light.

I know they aren't happy about player sales however their wage bill was as I understand it £12m pa in a league that is subject to salary cap of £2.5m albeit there are transitional provisions

To be fair to the Receivers they have to present the club as sustainable and that isn't

Welcome to the real world !

I have also noted that the Spanish bidder reduced his offer by half at the last min which would have left the club facing a 15 point deduction for failing to pay 25p in the £ to creditors - but made that offer conditional on the points deduction being waived

Not sure that's something you can blame them for

I was told by another football league chairman that he believes the process is going through. Maybe as in all business deals the buyers are trying to get the best deal for themselves
