Winter, your signs it’s looming

Anything you’ve done apart from putting your heating on that tells you Winter is on the way?
I dragged out, cleaned and wore my boots today 😔
And have lit a candle in my bedroom the last few nights and bought some thicker bedding.
You ?

Had a pint of dark mild late afternoon after a walk through yellow leaves in the local park.

It must be cold in Blackpool. I went to my local with a t shirt on and had a go at the landlord for having the heating on.Not had the heating on today

It’s definitely dropped a fair few degrees up here, especially with no sun breaking through.

Eating cake on a Saturday night watching Strictly and wanting to hibernate on a Sunday but refusing to 👍

I know it's not for everyone but I really like this time of year. bonfire smell in the air, frosty, cozy and the run up to christmas (I'm getting soft in my old age)... Gets a bit annoying around Feb/Mar though and I'm buzzing for spring by then.

I think the climate we have here suits me fine as you get a bit of everything throughout the year and the odd extreme (thunderstorms etc.). Hopefully we get a 'front loaded' winter this year and maybe some snow?! Nov/Dec???!!?! Wishful thinking no doubt.

Anyone else?

Spent a long time in Aus, gotta say I actually really enjoy the seasons now. If a little disjointed.

I like the climate changes we have. Takes me a week or two to adjust mentally but then I embrace all 4 seasons.

Errmm....when the daily temperature drops to around 23 degrees instead of 33 degrees?

Sorry, living in Queensland we don't really have a winter just slightly chillier and less humid at night for about 6-8 weeks.

Thicker coat and water-proof walking boots out of the cupboard - replacing thin coat and trainers
A few more weeks and the Alaskan (ear flaps) and beanie hats will be out for walks on the beach with the dog.
Heating timers set (I'm usually a tight git and don't put the heating on until October - was over-ruled by Mrs Dave in September)
Mother in law staying over more often - yippee!

Same as voy, had a dark ale. A bottle of really lovely stout.

Lit the fire...
Oh yeah I had a pint of stout after the mild. Then came home and cooked the first roast dinner I've made since last winter. Good Sunday actually.

What's the candle for?

Has been chilly in Khon Kaen the last few days as the death throes of the rainy season kick in. Wind from the north and persistent rain, it hasn't got above 24 for the last few days, which is bloody freezing when you are used to high 30's as a matter of course. Getting dark at about 5.40 now too, which is about 20 minutes later than the darkest day in late December.
Soon though, the clouds will part and we will be rain free for 5 months or so, bar the odd freak thunderstorm....

Most of the leaves are off the trees

Waterproofs have a warm layer underneath

Shorts washed and away for next spring

I love winter, too, but forecast rain every hour till Thursday midday, not so fond

Seeing the Geese flying overhead always amazes me and tells me Winters coming.
Those 'geese' are probably Cranes. Used to fly over our house in France.
They'd be going South now and back North in about April/May.
They often used to settle for the night on a lake near us.
P.S. They go to North Africa apparently.

Pretty sure Geese Dave tbh.
Can’t believe myself and other people have been mistaken all these years that the sound and birds are actually cranes!

I always think as soon as you get to bonfire night...that’s it game over till spring, I like the seasons though, glass of red sat near the wood burner👍😁🍷
