Hoping Critch has sights set on an experienced vociferous midfielder from the championship, who will take a game by the scruff of the neck in the vein of Morrison/Brabin and be the ying to the yang of young, pacy, tika taka fellow team mates.
 
I am happy when we sign a young hungry player from the lower leagues with potential to improve, Rather than someone who has just proven they cannot cut it in a league we want to aim for.

but if they are out of contract, not offered a new one, doesn't that say that they are not good enough??
 
Think we'd be waiting for them to start getting desperate when no one is knocking on their door and the season is about to start - but then if no one else is after them, do we want them either really?

Playing at a higher level might mean higher wage demands. If we are going to be getting anyone from the championship we will be buying from clubs of a similar size to us. So Charlton, Wigan Athletic, and Barnsley as examples.
 
Is a League One/Two player making a 'step up' hungrier than an out of contract Championship player?
