Would Owen have put us in administration?

Rick Parry saying it’s unprecedented for a football club owner to put their club in to administration - would Owen eventually have done that with us?

He would have used coronavirus to close down the club and use the land for building new houses etc.
He started scheming of ways to remove Premiership money within hours of promotion

It's actually quite a sickening prospect at what might have happened to Blackpool FC if we were still under their ownership during this pandemic.

Could we have gone the way of Bury? Sends a shudder down the spine

I posted on the old Board the day that the Judge put us into liquidation, that we should never mention that family again. Just saying.
I partially agree with you 1966. But sometimes it helps to look back and remember just how bad things were. It then puts where we are now in to perspective and makes you realise how lucky we are to have a decent owner and a club to support.

Yeah, you're right. I just think of Wigan and any other club going through ownership issues and think blimey, we've come out the other side and, thank Mr Justice Smith, the filth has gone.

Would the Oystains have used this horrible situation to their advantage?
Damn frickin’ right they would, scum of the earth.

100% nailed on they would have folded the club... not even up for discussion. Perfect excuse... no brainer for the scum

I don't think it would have been that clear cut because he has always been eager to svoid any tax liabilities catching up with him. Don't you remember the 'house of cards' issue if one part of the empire folded and going into administration would mean he wouldn't have control of the process. When VB won the court case O desperately tried to avoid the appointment of a court receiver to recover the debt. More likely he would stripped the cost base down to an absolute minimum, with the team conisting of young players on an absolute pittance and he would have used any losses to offset against other tax liabilties (which ironically was the ploy he used to avoid giving VB a 50% share of the club)

The O's would have put themselves on furlough without a doubt. FREE MONEY!
I thought Old Catweazle claimed he had never taken a penny in salary out of the club? And Koko seemed to just extract loans in lieu of a wage, apart from the Prem season, I recall. So furlough shouldn’t have been an option. But they are the Stains. Everyone else would have been on it.

The answer to the original question is almost certainly no, for at least a couple of reasons:

1) OO is all about control. Administration means loss of control
2) The first thing the administrator does is to start investigating where any money that should be in the business actually is

Actually liquidation with OO riding off into the sunset would’ve been more realistic, as would OO and family squeezing costs ever lower.

Incidentally, on a completely not unrelated note, the club still hasn’t been able to file accounts for 2018-19 and they’re officially late ...

No his son would have.
First time I ever saw OO was Rochdale away as a young lad whatever you think of the old goat he went to games home and away and has done for a number of years he enjoyed football.
They would have cut costs even more and maybe got what dog food dave tried to do get the players doubling up in jobs and have them cleaning, ticket office or cutting the grass. 🤔
