Would you start Patino?

Absolutely 💯 start him

Why wouldn't you? Bizarre
The reasons I gave in the other post that you didn't answer properly apart from childish ,rude comments . He may not be match fit, he won't be used to how the others play and if he does have a bad game ,it may effect him for his next. We are supposed to be looking after this guy that has never started a league game yet . So when some bruiser from one of the dirtiest teams to visit Bloomfield road last season floors him or worse injure him , then what do we do . He will need time to adjust to league football and anyone thinks different needs to give their heads a shake . Luckily I think the manager has more sense then you, so I think he may be brought on for the last few minutes if he is on the bench.

A lot of inexperience there.
Agreed and why I think it has to be Dougall, Conolly or Stewart(if/when fit) as the third man if we play with both Fiorini and Patino. Not sure who the best fit is, but we definitely have a much richer pool for midfield with the two loanees in the mix.

Appleton says:

"It's up to Charlie to force his way into the eleven and the group and compete and make it as difficult as he possibly can for the lads that are in the team at the minute."

Doesn't sound much like a start tomorrow, to me?

I've seen the clips and read what experts have to say and he looks and sounds like the business, hence we're all excited - is he ready for a start this Saturday after arriving midweek, no idea! Hope so though. Again, if guessing, I'd say he'll be on the bench. Just a guess though.

Virtue Fiorini Carey... Not sure that midfield will strike fear into the opposition.

How come everyone is an expert on Patino when nobody on here has seen him play?

I bit like everyone knew Phil Foden was gonna be brilliant before he played a game for City

"He may not be match fit" "If he has a bad game"" "when some bruiser floors him" "he will need time to adjust"

Like I said negative clap trap

Yes I agree. Foden was introduced into the side age 17. He had, though, trained with the squad for a good period of time, and was introduced into a very strong side with a very strong midfield. Handling Patino's introduction requires some preparation and consideration surely.

I'd start him, what's the worst that can happen? If Gabriel is fit and Connolly can move into midfield (if not play Dougall there), why not?
With the change to five subs it can always be changed if it's not working.
After all, he's got to be thrown in the deep end sometime, we may as well see what he's made of.

Grimshaw
Gabriel/Connolly Ekpiteta Williams Thompson
Connolly/Dougall Patino Fiorini
Bowler Madine Yates

Voy, I take the point you're making but equally MA isn't going to publicly say the night before Charlie will be starting tomorrow. Neither is he going to look publicly like all Charlie has to do to be a guaranteed starter is turn up with his boots.

However much it might be true in private!

Bit of a chance to get Stoke playing some will he won't he guessing games. Who knows, maybe even rethink their lineup on the chance he does start.

If all those are available then Hazi's nailed it for me.

This is the team that will sweep through the division.

Leave him out completely against Stoke . He may not be match fit ,but if he is ,he needs to get used to the players around him . He's 18 and if he has a bad game on his first ever league appearance it could effect him for the next few games . That young Aresnal striker we had on loan had a night mare for us last year and I don't think he scored a single goal after missing a couple of good chances {Tyreece John - Jules }
To be fair, he's not being praised highly by everyone whose seen him just for his ability. I've heard his mentality is rock solid, if he was the type of player that one bad game destroys his confidence he wouldn't be thought so promising. I'm sure Arsenal have got plenty of sports psychologists on the books working on the mental side of things.

Ok ,lets say this is true . He is still unlikely to be up to speed with the other players . If you listen to the Stoke preview ,it gives an insight into being fit and being up to speed.

Michael Appletons interview with Lancs Live seems to make it clear he won’t be starting. He said he has to force his way in and earn his place. The ones in midfield have earned their places.

The only problem there is that the midfield was shit after half time last week. 😆

I think Fiorini cemented a place, and Dougall probably for today. Connolly sure to stay RB I think. There's one midfield place up for grabs between Patino, Virtue and Carey. Without Stewart and Connolly its a bit lightweight. Need to sign someone solid. And savvy.

Stoke are a big physical side. Need either Dougall or Connelly (or both) in midfield to battle for the ball. Don't think Patino and Fiorini will both start. Most likely Patino off the bench as he's barely had time to train with the team.

Seems to have done well at youth and U23 levels which is where all the hype surrounding him has come from. No experience of the rough and tumble of the football league so bit of an unknown as to how he will fare. Don’t think he will feature today but 2pm will tell.
