3 Afghan families who a family member worked for the British in Afghanistan during the conflict who we brought to this country after the Taliban took over are now taking the British Government to court and the reason?

They were moved from a London area hotel to different accommodation in the north of England and now they are not happy about it.

How dare they be moved to a backward filthy area known as Northern England and the poor kids education is now suffering oh that and no 3 square meals now served on a plate anymore and no room service.

So do we not have schools north of Birmingham? Are we so backward in the north we’re all thick as pig shit?

Reminds me of a scene from Game of Thrones and the Wildlings who everyone hated up north.

No doubt it’s costing hundreds of thousands of pounds going through the courts.

What a load of horse shit you just couldn’t make stuff like this up. 😡

And before anyone jumps on me I’am 100% behind bringing them here otherwise they would have faced certain death but for Christs sake come on. 🤷‍♂️

If they were sent to Preston then yes I can understand them protesting😄

Have you been reading the Daily Mail again, Jaffa? You know it's bad for your mental wellbeing.

Here is an alternative view from a Law Journal

Last month, a group of families were moved out of London where they had lived for almost a year into an airport hotel in a northern city. The unexpected move resulted in the loss of job offers, training opportunities, school places and the support networks they had built with other families. The group includes a former soldier who fought alongside British and American forces against the Taliban, and teenage girls who had been welcomed into a school and were engaging positively with their education outside of Afghanistan.

“As things stand, these families are at risk of repeated changes in temporary accommodation. Each move disrupts their attempts to hold down work, continue education, and integrate into the UK. There is no good reason why they should be relocated in circumstances where they will inevitably be moved again.
“When they have tried to arrange their own accommodation in co-ordination with the Home Office, they have been stonewalled, yet if they do so without Home Office approval, they have been told they will lose a support package in place to help their integration and independence.
“A shocking part of the Home Office’s legal argument is that the Home Secretary does not owe a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of the children involved. These families were recognised as most in need of help to escape the Taliban. They include people to whom the UK Government has stated it owes a huge debt. They are being treated appallingly.
“What the families need is protection from being moved like this again and an opportunity to find accommodation that they will one day be able to call home. For all that they have been through, and for the sacrifices and risks taken for our country, they deserve better.”

One of the individuals affected said;
“The move in September uprooted my children from the life we had started in this country and left them feeling deprived of their education. It felt like a deportation or a second migration for us, after we had started to feel like we had a home again.
“In our current situation, it feels like all of the good deeds and dangerous work I carried out in support of British forces in Afghanistan has been forgotten.

Looks like Suella Braverman is playing to the rwnj reactionaries yet again. Maybe she's looking to relocate them to Rwanda.

They don’t want to move schools just before doing their GCSEs.

On the BBC news do ministers of doom and gloom not have a TV?
These people were told from day one the initial accommodation would only be a temporary accommodation so all this about they now want to stay there is just a distraction from the truth and this country yet again is sucker punched.

They were moved from a London area hotel to a permanent residency in the north of England and now they are not happy about it.

To be fair, the full context is that they've been put in an airport hotel in the middle of nowhere and their kids not allowed to go to school.

Our Government is condemning the Afghans for not allowing girls to go to school, while not allowing girls to go to school...

I think they had every opportunity to go to school but they just stopped going because they didn’t like it and complained the Government certainly didn’t stop them going to school what would it gain by doing that?

No they didn't. 5live covered it this afternoon and there is no school near the airport and they have no transport. Their former teacher was livid.

I didn’t listen to 5live fair enough but surely measures could have been taken to get them to school?
How do kids go to school in the highlands of Scotland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, for example who live miles from any town /village let alone a school?
Transport is laid on and I’am sure it would have been laid on in this case had they indicated that they wanted to go to school which clearly they didn’t as more than likely advised by their legal team not to go as it made the case even stronger in court.
