Never went to Cocker Street. I've heard the stories about it being a bit dirty but, nostalgically, I wish I'de been, if only once.
 
Java Certified Programmer - you get (got) a lapel badge with the certificate. For some reason, I have never found the right social occasion to wear the badge. Instead of wearing it, I could go the whole hog and just have 'nerd' tattooed on my forehead.

The sides around the pool were quite high, which made it more daunting for the beginner & there were some traces of rust which probably fell from above, wooden half door changing cubicles, as it was salt water & I guess that got into the air. I think it must have been when I was in junior school 1968-9 but I’ve slept since🥴

Thanks. I got my learners cert. In 69/70 so Cocker Street was open then. However, for me it was in the wrong part of town.
