Your reviews of iFollow

So after a year of having to watch iFollow, what are your reviews? Camera work, picture quality, reliability, cost of games, commentators (eek), personal experiences etc?

One of the most annoying things about iFollow especially recently is they show a replay of something that has just happened and quite often it is not worthy of a replay. Yet it shows it and meanwhile the action has started and you miss it. I thought it was only matter of time before we would miss a goal because they would be showing something else on the replay. They need to certainly address that.

Ebbs and flows a bit, presumably depending on who is managing the coverage. Some seem too keen on replays. Personally can count the number of technical problems ... ie freezing etc ... on the fingers of one hand.

It has allowed us to watch games we previously wouldn't have been able to. It has glitches, froze a few times and shows replays when it shouldn't but I'm grateful it worked as well as it did. The difference in Live time was also amusing when doing watch alongs as some were cheering before others and Sky goal alerts were ahead of the live stream.

yep that is biggest issue by far. Not sure if that's a decision being made by a human being or something AI-like ? But it invariably means missing some live action.

yep when I watch it I turn the TV off and my phone ! And def don't look at Twitter either, as that reports on action before it's happened on screen

Always had Sky sports news 5 minutes behind if watching on laptop and tv on in the back ground. Slow connection on occasion but dont know if that may be an internet problem and not IFollow.

I don't know what people expect?

It's given us a chance to watch games that we couldn't see otherwise. More importantly, it has given us a chance to bond with the team that 1m 53s on Sky wouldn't do.

The quality is acceptable for those reasons. You ain't going to get multiple cameras or a production team directing replays. And if you did it wouldn't be a tenner.

I've every intention of using this for games I'm not at next season, if available.

I'm still watching injury time of the Sunday match!🤪

What annoys me most is that you can't watch the play offs without subscribing to Sky. As regards the quality of Ifollow I am fairly happy. Yes there are times when they choose to replay an incident and miss important continuing action and the occasional jerky camera work.

Now sports tv pass, £10 for the day.

For a new conception put together in a short space of time, I would not complain. Very few issues, maybe twice I got kicked out and had to log in again. The replays recently have been a bit annoying but hey better than not having any at all. Really hope they have something in place for next season. From me it’s been a big👍

I think it's been fantastic, it's worked well every game for me. I hope they keep it going. As an armchair fan much of the time, only getting to a few games a season, I dreamed about this for years... 🤣

My viewing experience has been very hit and miss, one week trouble free, the next plagued with buffering.
I’m hoping when we go back that every 30 seconds or so the players freeze for 5, I’ve got used to it now.

Not had a single technical issue, just works all the time, no buffering, no running behind. Very simple, replays rated what you want to see, but has allowed me to see much more of the Mighty than I normally would . Big thumbs up from me when the alternative was nothing

I've found it invaluable this season.
OK it's not the best coverage, but it's good enough, and I can put up with missing off the ball movement etc, especially for a tenner a game (between 2 of us)

I also intend to use I follow for the games I can't get to next season. We haven't missed a league game this season, and we've enjoyed it.

Only had buffering issues in the conservatory as it’s as far from the router as possible indoors, bought a booster & it’s been a little better. On 4G had a nightmare until I remembered about reduced bit rate & it was fine after that. All in all it’s not perfect but it’s been a saviour during this lousy time.

It’s been pretty decent. The replay issue has been occasionally quite irritating. The commentary leaves a lot to be desired (but that’s more BBC Radio Lancashire’s fault) and I do notice Chizzy or whoever fails to log on or whatever they need to do until either right before kick off or sometimes a few minutes later. Commentaries elsewhere seem to begin 15 minutes or more before KO and you get a bit of build up / team news as a result.

Would be good if you got that 10/15 mins prior to KO and maybe even a little post game in the way of replays, maybe even the interviews with the managers ?

No criticisms from me i live abroad and get to watch the Pool twice per week, its been brilliant i hope they keep it up when normality resumes, not sure if i will get to see the the POs here!

I find the advertising a pain - I like to watch the players warm up before the match, but there is always an advertising banner over most of the screen. As soon as the match ends, the service then cuts to adverts straight away, despite the fact that the radio Lancs commentary / post-match analysis is clearly still carrying on... a lot of the advertising is then selling ifollow itself, despite the fact that I'm already subscribing to the game and have paid my tenner - the phrase "preaching to the converted" leaps to mind! Steve

It's always been available to overseas subscribers for around £120 per season.

ifollow is obviously better than nothing, however I’m surprised Sky haven’t done the equivalent with a season ticket to watch your clubs matches.
If multi angled SKY cameras are not already installed at a ground surely it cant be too difficult for them to do so.
Then sell season tickets or single match passes for your team.

I think if a decision was made now to continue behind closed doors games for the whole of next season then there'd be some movement along those lines. Or clubs looking to bring production in-house. It's just been a case of adapting the existing EFL ifollow set up and letting people watch without any of the usual 3pm Saturday kick off restrictions on televised broadcasts until further notice.

Grateful to have i-follow but either the cameramen are easily bored or they are on a YTS scheme learning how to operate them.

I was using it for away game since the stains were removed and obviously all this season.
I have little our no trouble with it really apart from those stupid replays we are now getting which most of the time are unnecessary.

It might not be all bells and whistles but it was fabulous through multiple lockdowns, gave a routine to the week with Saturday / Tuesday games. Also allowed a lot of people to see every game this season (me included) which ordinarily would certainly not be the case. A massive thumbs up for me.

I concur with the majority. It's been very good. Yes, early doors I got a lot of buffering but since I've sorted out a decent browser and connected a good half hour before the start, it's been fine.
Just remember, iFollow does not have the camera people and technicians that Sky/BT/ITV and the Beeb have. Once you accept that then it's been a blessing.
The timing of those replays however, grrr.

No complaints from me. I’ve watched more games this season than I would have done normally. I like the local commentary team rather than those foreigners who never watch the ‘Pool from one week to the next. We’ve had a bit of banter on this site re Chizzy and Brent as well. Blackpool iFollow should be renamed “Chizzyvision” 😂

Even though the buffering has sometimes wrecked a game for me, it’s been better than not watching.
I’ve even thrown the odd wobbler and swore I wouldn’t pay for another game, but always been there for the next one.

It's the first season since the PL that I've seen every game live.
Of course in the PL season I was actually at them all in the flesh all bar a couple.

Had two full season passes plus watched all the post oyston games the previous season. Being in foreign climes it's a decent way to watch. Never really had any issues with it buffering or freezing. Early days when paying game by game i had more issues.

Complaints. No standard production quality. The individuals in control of transmission are not not top drawer. Would also say that different clubs are using different cameras. The game at one smaller club in league 1 seemed to be filed on an I phone or similar. Customer service is absolutely shisser if you do need support

Overall pretty happy with it.

It is what it is being able to watch games during the pandemic but the minute this is all over get rid(sorry people who live outside UK) it brings hardly any money in and and anything that puts folk off attending live should be discouraged in lower league's.

The crux of the problem there are too many paying sod all for example one streaming site had 14K hits for when we played Sunderland no I-follow no illegal streams.

Until they fix the illegality they can bin I-follow for me.

It does its job, I feel that the ads can be annoying, particularly the screw fit ones, I find Lee Charles TV to be better for half time entertainment.

Absolutely doggers, expected more for a tenner - but glad I’ve got to follow my team, especially in full lockdown

Like many gave said its made Saturdays and Tuesdays a day with a bit of a buzz to look forward to.
Especially as we ve been housebound so much of the past year.
Given us a chance to get to at least recognise a few of our players and, unexpectedly , end up with a corker of a season as well.
Not sure what I'll do for the playoff games mind

As an overseas subscriber I think it is great value and gives me the only possibility of watching the Pool every week. Had very few technical issues. Major gripe was occasional long delays in putting replays up (evening matches are middle of the night for me) but after a couple of email exchanges that has been sorted. Also the two Oxford matches are showing as due to be broadcast so I am well happy 😀

They have been a God Send and for all their faults (of which there have been many!) I doff my cap to them and thank you for keeping me sane!
