Youth team end of term report.

Not a lot I can say about this season.
I watched the Bradford FA Youth Cup game on YouTube and 2 games at Myerscough.
The facts show that when we had a full(ish) strength squad we did pretty well and mirrored the 1st team with a double figures unbeaten run.
Injuries hit the first team and the Youth team lost the services of Holmes, Apter and Mariette as they trained with the 1st team and all of them made at least the bench at one time or another.
Ewan Bange, on his injury extension season, was also deservedly offered a pro-conract last December and was therefore no longer elgible from then on.
I said on Jaffa's thread though at Youth team level it isn't actually all about winning, it's also about giving opportunities and developing players for the future. Winning is of course a good habit to get in to.
So since last September Bange, Apter, Holmes, Mariette, Sinclair and Monks have all been given pro-contrats.
Good luck to all these young footballers.
Also in the squad we have Cameron Hill and Nathan Tshola on pro-contracts but neither have played more than a handful of games all season. I have no news on why.
The absence of the 2nd year pro's has given plenty of the 1st years a chance along with several players from the U/16s and Charlie Penman from the u/15s.
I had the pleasure of watching 6'4" CB Charlie play and bookmark this page as my prediction of great footballing future for Charlie. (Look after him BFC)
So what does the future hold?
I think this is very much "to be agreed".
For the Youth team itself a return to Blackpool has been heralded but a little birdie tells me this won't be at Stanley Park. A short term fix is still being sought until the new training ground is ready. Added to that I can't see BFC having a post u/18 development squad until a bespoke training is up and running.
So what are we going to do with all our 1st & 2nd yr pro's next season?
We could try and strike a deal Fleetwood as our "feeder" club but realistically we may have to look a little bit below that.
We could of course also see the return of the Ressies which would give an option of playing players of any age.
Lots to think about not the least of which is which Division we will be in.
The future however is looking bright with more than a hint of tangerine.

Thanks for giving the youth the attention it deserves Insy.⚽👍👍👍

Huge interest in Penman already. Signing youngsters from abroad much more difficult for the Premier league clubs since EU exit.

I don't think anyone would deny a young lad the opportunity of an apprenticeship with a top league club.
It's just a balance between being a big fish at Blackpool and small fry at Citeh.

Pity if they aren't moving to Stanley Park Arena. Hopefully something will be sorted for all the young lads on pro contracts so they can get regular games in some sort of League set up, in whatever format.

Thanks for that. Have your attentions on youth development given you any feel as to our chances of going up through the academy hierarchy? Sorry that reads a bit clumsy but I don't understand the different levels, only that Sadler is keen that we move up a stratum.

It's the stated vision of the Board to become the best at Category 3 then look to achieve Category 2 status. This won't happen until we have the new training ground at the very earliest, IMO.
If I was a betting man, and generally I'm not, I'd put money on an announcement about the training ground this close season.
