Blackpool South 2024 - By Election Song + Video ….

Blackpool South has been let down by its most recent MP.

The seat was created for the 1945 general election and ever since the constituency has only been represented by either the Conservative Party or the Labour Party.

The electoral turnout has varied but is normally around 50% with half of the electorate choosing not to cast its vote.

The 5 different MP’s representing Blackpool South since 1945 normally get up to 50% of the votes cast … so that means 75% of registered voters have not voted for their local MP.

Neither the Conservative Party or the Labour Party candidates are attending the hustings at The Armfield Club on April 25th - however all the other candidates are attending and happy to be questioned …. this is the sad state of UK politics 🇬🇧.

This is the reality of the UK electoral system - it’s an unaccountable two party tyranny.

So here’s our song ….

Two Party Tyranny

Andrew,

It’s voters that only vote one of the two parties in.

Having fought for “Football First” in the 2015 GE in Blackpool South and saw such “Apathy”…..ONE comment.

Not voting changes NOTHING !!!!🧡🧡

Great Track Though Pal 👍👍🧡🧡

Cheers TC - In retrospect old son, many thx for getting involved and being active back in the day.

Amazing how so many couldn’t be arsed - so we came within 10% of ousting Blackburn FFS

We need believers rather than doubters old son.

UTP - one club- one town …never underestimate us … 🤣👊👊👊

The Conservative candidate backed out now as well then, don't even know who it is tbh.

Good chance to hear more from Mark Butcher then 👍

I trust you voted for PR in the referendum, to end the two party tyranny. I did. But I won't be voting for Reform.

Agreed but it’s really just a 2 way tie for last - as the Minutemen said.

Minor parties + independents are excluded by our FPTP system.

Candidates are allowed to stand and voters to vote but it’s only the 2 party government that wins ….

TBF the Tory backed out quickly.

Labour on the other hand took 2 weeks of badgering and chasing to come up with their excuse .

If anyone from the Labour Party ever takes any notice (which they won’t) Chris Webb’s agent (who might be employed by the Labour Party) was awful to deal with - rude, dismissive and condescending … for the record as an old school Labour supporter I intend not to vote Labour again …

At the end of the day both gave lame excuses - to us they are cowards and despite being surrounded by their party cadres flocking to obey the party line they prove by not attending, that they do not really care ….

I'm listening on a tablet so that might be the issue, but the kick drum has disappeared.

I've had that with a lot of my mixes, so I usually HPF the bass and guitars at 110hz. (Your guitar is playing that arpeggio all the time so probably doesn't need it, just the bass)

Sounds like there's more delay on the vocals after the instrumental break, which sounds good maybe use that all the way through?

I like the lick reminds me of CCR's up around the bend and the chorus works well, quite an ear worm.

The music to tonight’s hustings … 🤣 - please give me a thumbs up if you are coming along tonight … I need to get a feel for numbers and how many bottles of absinthe we will need

Oh and btw this video was done on AI - didn’t take long at all … we all might as well get used to already being redundant …

7 candidates attended - all of them made good comments

No Labour No Tory - absolutely shameful

Some press made it along too - The Guardian, the I newspaper and Politico.

A few Pool fans I recognised but mainly locals and business owners with an interest in the area / concerned about the plight of our town

Special thanks to sergeant major Neil Holden who was a tremendous timekeeper (he made great use of a bell 🛎️ ) and did a great job of keeping all the candidates in line, on message and in order 👍

Lots of good questions from the floor and sent in prior by TAC members …

Thanks to everyone … all trying to do their best for Blackpool and rightly proud of TGC 🍊🙏🧡
