What should have happened this week

Was a nice positive statement from our owner and savior apologising for this seasons relegation and outlining plans for recovery

This probably should have happened before Season Tickets went on sale to try and drum up some business with a bit of positive PR

Instead STs have been released at the same dull lazy price as last season with very little in the way of marketing or incentives to try and get bums on seats

Can't win though can they? Everyone jumped on Mansford's comments from last season about budget etc and he was vilified because of it. Outline plans for recovery and if they don't come off then he'll be criticised. I genuinely think our fanbase have pushed Sadler away from releasing anything. The only way you can achieve positive PR is with success on the pitch (even more so than training grounds and stands) and, in fairness, he achieved that very early on. Last season is a strange one because I genuinely don't think there was just one thing we did wrong - it was just a clusterfuck of many things.
Am not sure how they could have made ST prices any different - you've seen on here it'll be who we appoint and the players we bring in who will make the difference.
Too many posters these days starting with a negative in the hope of a run chase and as the above GIF says it's now boring!

Didn't have to be like that.

Something along the lines of-

Last season was a total disaster with mistakes made. It's up to me as the Custodian of this great club to put us back on track. As you are aware changes in the boardroom have been made and people will be brought in to make us stronger. these are the subject of ongoing discussions and announcements will be made as we humanly can.

These changes coupled with my determination to achieve championship status again will see us appoint a manager in the coming days who we believe will achieve that. We will look to rebuild a team capable of this and here is where you all come in. Please purchase your ST's as soon as you are able so we can use your money to fund the signings needed to make your club successful again.

Working together we will prevail.

The owner and former members of the Board have made all those points, in public, weeks ago.

Yup - spot on! And what does it matter if it was said before we were relegated or not .. it all accounted for a poor season and the answers wouldn't have been any different!
The weird thing is at work (where we have a number of Blackpool fans) we don't talk about this incessantly and go round in circles like it appears some do on here. This appears to be Phil's 4th or 5th post he's started just to have a needless swipe at the owner - what does it achieve? Is it just boredom and the fact people have got nothing else to say which has lead to so many of these threads because all it seems to do is open wounds which should have a chance to heel.
Let's wait for an announcement and then we all have something to go on and pass judgement and in the meantime I have never wanted an @AllezBlackpool food thread as much as I have now!

I don't disagree with you but that just isn't going to happen with the current custodian so stop banging on about it incessantly.
BST have been trying to address the (lack of) communication issue but it's just not happening.
You won't like me saying it but the negativity only keeps getting discussed because you start 2 threads a day on it.
I'm just as eager as you to get a new manager, sign some players, even a Director of Football (or a title of your choice) but it won't happen until happens.
Stop being so bloody impatient.
Can you give me a sneak preview of tomorrow's thread title.
"Simon Sadlers lost the plot" maybe???
PS
I bought 3 STs today.

It was predictable that the wolves would circle, as the same individuals round on you everytime you post anything. It's quite simple really; if others don't like what you say, then chill out & don't respond.
Personally, I think you & anyone else are currently correct in raising questions (as many times as you like for me), rather than be boring & accepting that everything is rosey in the BFC garden.
After all we did sleep walk into relegation & now just want some polite reassurance, telling us that lessons have been learnt & next season we will perform much better.
I'm being patient, as I believe good news is just around the corner. I certainly won't criticise others who want to react differently.

Good for you

I'm going to wait until I see some ambition before I renew my 5

Were we relegated at the time?

This week was the time for saying something.
The club needs to start feeling less cold and corporate I think, I defend Sadler on most and I think he deserves patience/trust, but that is an aspect of the club I'm not really a fan of since his takeover.

Nothing has exemplified that cold/corporate (coldporate?) feeling than the fact we've been relegated and we've had no communication, they've just put the season tickets on sale and released some players. We don't even have a manager and the most we've heard from the club is basically "get your money out for next season lads".

I hope it's simply the case that Sadler is looking to really get this next appointment correct, so is ensuring the process is carried out thoroughly and when the process is done we'll have some communication, which will be his statement of intent to bounce straight back up (🤞). Put it on another thread but I can't wait for this woeful season to be mentally checked off and I think the new manager being appointed will be that moment, from there hopefully some optimism will spread back through the fanbase.

I don't mean the BST one after you got the bollocking from the owner

Surely now the season has ended its time for the owner to communicate with the fans

Even you must be able to see that any positive statement from the club would help with season ticket sales

Think he means fan meeting 1st March it's now middle of May.😂

Have you applied for manager?
As you think you know everything!

The club has several people employed in a capacity to do media/customer relations and we've been left with...

- a mystifying disproportionate charge that hasn't been explained for physical tickets
- tickets on sale with little or no idea of the ambitions or intent or staffing for next year
- a random statement from BST about displeasure about the fanbase (or aspects therein)
- nothing at all on the fact we've been relegated
- no idea who has made the decisions about contracts.

None of these things are unreasonable for fans to ask about. There's obviously a line where fans don't get to know stuff but it's weird. It's like the club are actively and deliberately disengaging.

This creates a vacuum of speculation. It's a basic of PR that you control the narrative to some extent. We're just left with guesswork.

I've an immense amount of sympathy for the thankless task of owning and running a football club - but this silence at a point when you'd imagine you'd be trying everything you could to turn a negative season into an optimistic future (not least because you want some income) is weird.

🤷

👏 spot on. It’s not rocket science.

It’s not like we’re asking for much either, we don’t need to know the ins and outs of every last decision. Just do the bare minimum.

Good for you

You say that every year but you always do so stop kidding yourself.
You know that being a Blackpool fan isn't easy.
Every season at this time of the year I'm hopeful that next season will be a good one but I've got a few more notches on my bed post for bad ones than you have but (like you) I still keep coming back because that's what real fans do.
So stop worrying, at least until the 31 May, and if nothing's happened by then press the panic button.

Simon has never been communicative, that's an undeniable fact, and when his right-hand man listens and responds to fans concerns he sacks him and tbh I think he's still sulking over that episode.
This was all well and good when things were going well on the pitch but as soon as they don't we all want a scapegoat (and an explanation).
We won't get an explanation but in the absence of that the pressure is on Simon to deliver on the pitch and shut us all up again.
We're just going to have to wait and see.

It's beyond belief that SS hasn't given an end of season statement acknowledging our relegation tbh.

I couldn't give a sh1te about a personal statement from Sadler but - like Phil - you are certainly not wrong.

I'm thinking people should tell Phil why they feel he is wrong instead of all this "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" sh1te.

To be fair to Robbie, he did do that in his response.

I guess whether the public statements from the club around the end of the season were enough or if there should have been a more formal statement after we were relegated is open to debate.

I'd rather we were working to get appointments made than making throw away statements. We can talk about a planned recovery when BM's successor is in position. Hopefully a manger to follow shortly after.

To be honest, I'm thinking a professional outfit is capable of issuing formal statements in an appropriate and timely manner without it hampering their recruitment process in the slightest.

What the feck do we need a manger for ?

Are we signing that Jesus from the Arsenal ?

I'm sure they are capable and professional enough to release a statement, but why? They had a fans forum and that was used as ammunition against them.

I personally don't feel the need to be fed throw comments to entice me to buy a season ticket, I can make my own mind up whether or not to buy one.

Which let's face it the majority will have a stance on the ST package, and will make their feelings known that they aren't happy but will most likely renew.

*Apologies for the typo, manager since you didn't work it out. I will take the caution issued.

It's not them against us WAFU.

Are you seriously suggesting that the they shouldn't release a statement because of the reaction of some supporters following a fans forum ?

Like yourself, I don't care whether Sadler/the club issue a formal statement or not but there is no doubt that he/they should do.

Apologies for the b0110x about the spelling, I was aware that you meant manager but sorry for my poor attempt at humour.

Exactly, the PR is poor. It does come across as a bit cold and not taking advantage of obvious easy PR.

Nothing much said but release some prices that aren't exacly very popular or particularly marketable, charge for keeping the ST card which we already have, no extras like many clubs have and obviously no low price strategy to fill the stadium, which the club seem unwilling to even try.

At the moment though what is there to say? We can read between the line in regards to the player retained list, well I think everyone can put a reason to the majority. Why not release the statement when the new guy is onboard? Then his vision for the future could be communicated and at the same time highlight the lessons we have learnt from last season. I have a feeling they would have loved to have a positive rallying call out there but the timings haven't aligned, probably due to the new guy still having a contractual obligation in his current job. We know there is a manger sorry manager 😆 search going on so I don't know what there is to say, I liken it to a meeting when the question "anyone with anything to add" and some dick goes on with some pointless input which adds feck all of value, minutes of your life that you'll never get back. For me make a statement when key pieces are in place and it adds value to the cause.

But hey if that's what the masses want, where is the bloody statement! United in our collective goal brother.

That doesn't make it right, this is football not hedge fund management.

A well meaning statement can go a long way.

SS is admired by many, he is the owner and leader. If he puts of an inspiring message, talking from the heart, people listen and it affects them. Yes some might pick at bits said but that will always happen. It helps people connect to him and also it does no harm to remind people of some realities of running a club.

Fans are easily led or easily misled, say nothing and fans end up filling the void often with negative stuff.

I still think they'll come out with something when they feel it's right, but for me when ST go on sale some basic communication can only help.

It's no big deal WAFU and I'm like you in that I don't need to hear anything but it is something that really should be done.

For want of a better analogy, if I get a mate who is getting married a wedding present, I'm not interested in getting a silly little thank you card from his Mrs but she's supposed to send them.

I suppose the club should have more reason for doing so as they are trying to develop a relationship with supporters, I'm not interested in developing relationships with my mates wives - not all of them anyway.
