Result: Blackpool 1 Tranmere 2.
Can only go off the match report, but it makes out as if we dominated, just couldn't finish. No strikers involved though so maybe to be expected. Expecting Beesley and Lavery tonight, so no Joseph again, which is starting to worry me...
Keep the players on their toes? Make sure everyone knows they're going to have to fight for a place and aren't guaranteed to start?Surprised by the lineup, particularly Grimshaw, eki, Lyons, Trybull and Carey
Yep, that’s probably the reasonKeep the players on their toes? Make sure everyone knows they're going to have to fight for a place and aren't guaranteed to start?
They cant have listened flat footed by all accountsKeep the players on their toes? Make sure everyone knows they're going to have to fight for a place and aren't guaranteed to start?
Man City have done it many times after Aguero went and until Haarland arrivedStrange to play with no striker.

I hope not, I’m not convinced, if he is then I hope it worksAre we actually thinking Beesley is the answer up front?
On the thread about Joseph yesterday I got told yesterday he'd got a fractured hip which was backed up by another poster who'd spoken to a player. Can only go off the match report, but it makes out as if we dominated, just couldn't finish. Yeah so no Pennington, Norburn, Morgan, Virtue, Lavery, Beesley, CJ, Joseph etc.Starting XI: Grimshaw, Tharme, Ekpiteta, Connolly, Lyons, Dougall, Trybull, Carey, Lankshear, Apter, Dale.

Prob be that with the trialists on benchNo CJ, Gabriel or Joseph, we really do need to hope their injuries aren't serious. It'll be interesting to see who plays tonight.
O'Donnell
Moore
Pennington
Casey
Husband
Thompson
Virtue
Norburn
Morgan
Beesley
Lavery
Perhaps the aim was to give the defensive unit a workout as much as anything? There again perhaps today is simply an opportunity for 22 players to play a full 90 mins, and the mix in each side is irrelevant.Yeah so no Pennington, Norburn, Morgan, Virtue, Lavery, Beesley, CJ, Joseph etc.
A fair few in there are a big part of the new spine.
OK the last 2 may not have been fit l, but I'm surprised there was no striker, as even Brad Holmes surely would have benefited from the run out.
Not sure what they'll have learnt from this game if played in different way, bar getting the fitness.
With only Hibernian left, you’d think he’d want tonight to be more or less the side he’s going to start with against Burton.Perhaps the aim was to give the defensive unit a workout as much as anything? I think the game against Hibs will give us a better indication of the starting line up against Burton unless there is another behind closed doors friendly next week. With only Hibernian left, you’d think he’d want tonight to be more or less the side he’s going to start with against Burton.
They might even sneak Fylde in Tuesday which was fairly last minute I recall last season.I think the game against Hibs will give us a better indication of the starting line up against Burton unless there is another behind closed doors friendly next week.
I think that’s itNone of them had done more than 60 minutes before today so maybe it is mainly about getting them all up to 90.
Or the striker on trial.Could have at least started with Holmes.
All too good for league one...Surprised by the lineup, particularly Grimshaw, eki, Lyons, Trybull and Carey
With 2 games today, that doesn't really explain the imbalance up top.None of them had done more than 60 minutes before today so maybe it is mainly about getting them all up to 90.
But not for League two, apparentlyAll too good for league one...
Yes, me too.All too good for league one...
Oh, definitely.Yep, that’s probably the reason
