Another friendly this afternoon

Critchley said after the Barrow match he wanted to get a full 90 into his players makes sense two games today.

You would imagine the starting XI for Burton will on show v Morecambe and fringe players and maybe the trialists will play this afternoon

Only a friendly but worrying strong side without a recognised striker losing to tranmere, tin hat on 😖

No strikers played at all...

Looks like Critchley is mixing the sides up a bit rather than starting with the 'best one' vs Morecombe and a lesser one today.

Can only go off the match report, but it makes out as if we dominated, just couldn't finish. No strikers involved though so maybe to be expected. Expecting Beesley and Lavery tonight, so no Joseph again, which is starting to worry me...

Yeah sounds that way. We are light upfront and out wide still which is my only worry with the start of the season not far off.

No CJ, Gabriel or Joseph, we really do need to hope their injuries aren't serious. It'll be interesting to see who plays tonight.

O'Donnell
Moore
Pennington
Casey
Husband
Thompson
Virtue
Norburn
Morgan
Beesley
Lavery

On the thread about Joseph yesterday I got told yesterday he'd got a fractured hip which was backed up by another poster who'd spoken to a player.

Starting XI: Grimshaw, Tharme, Ekpiteta, Connolly, Lyons, Dougall, Trybull, Carey, Lankshear, Apter, Dale.

Result: Blackpool 1 Tranmere 2.
Yeah so no Pennington, Norburn, Morgan, Virtue, Lavery, Beesley, CJ, Joseph etc.

A fair few in there are a big part of the new spine.

OK the last 2 may not have been fit l, but I'm surprised there was no striker, as even Brad Holmes surely would have benefited from the run out.

Not sure what they'll have learnt from this game if played in different way, bar getting the fitness.

Perhaps the aim was to give the defensive unit a workout as much as anything? There again perhaps today is simply an opportunity for 22 players to play a full 90 mins, and the mix in each side is irrelevant.

With only Hibernian left, you’d think he’d want tonight to be more or less the side he’s going to start with against Burton.

Club match report seems to be " censored" . Only gives what it calls the starting 11. No idea who was on the bench. We need a devoted Gazette reporter who can pick up some information from the club about Joseph etc.

Seems pretty nailed on then that it’s going to be the

3-5-2 or more like 3-4-2-1 (Terry Venables famous Crimbo tree)
