A STATEMENT FROM SIMON SADLER........

Simon stated what the majority of supporters already believed. He genuinely is BFCs saviour. However maybe he might learn that a lack of communication between the club and the supporters gives a few the chance to write all sorts of stories as to what is going on.
An instance. On Saturday Andy Lyons wasn't in the team or the squad. All around me at the match I am hearing WTF is Critchley doing. That then starts a tirade of others questioning his decisions. A simple early explanation about his absence would have quelled all that. Regular injury updates, transfer dealings and attempts equally so. I don't for one minute think that we weren't trying like hell to get others in on deadline day. But silence starts the rumours and gives the few, so called supporters, the ammunition to write the crap they put on this and other sites.

Honestly, that has to be one of the WORST pieces of communication I've seen from the club since he's taken over.

Why is it a statement? Why isn't it called an update?

What is he stating? Shut the fuck up talking about how I spend money?

Why does he have a wanky tone throughout? We won at the weekend, huge opportunity to bring some good PR about.

Why is it a statement not a video?

Do we have a PR expert or a media team? Because frankly the way that has come across is absolutely awful.

I'm not against him or against Neil, the last 4 results were horrendous viewing. And we ARE short up front and short of quality. Of which we all expected 2-3 players to come in.
I think the ‘wanky tone’ is possibly how the statement is perceived, rather than how it is intended.

I certainly didn’t view it as wanky… more a case of setting things straight and confirming his commitment.

In fairness a lot of the criticism has been pretty wanky.

There's always going to be trolls on social media. I've been critical of a couple of manager calls and I actually thought we'd bring in a couple of players on deadline day but I can also understand why it was done in the case of McCarthy or not in the case of transfers on deadline day even if I disagreed with it.
Unfortunately some, especially after a drink and a defeat don't look at a bigger picture or don't want to and just react and act out to a loss. That's always going to happen and SS would prob be best to not even look at it. Besides it represents probably about 5 % of our fan base who just happen to shout loudest.

That's how it works innit. I can say what I like and question peoples motives and commitment. Then I run off crying when someone has the temerity to tell me I'm talking shit.

BooHoo society.

SS should never have to explain himself while its obvious that he is still investing in the club. I know of no other shop or business where an owner has took time to explain himself to the customers , yet I am glad he did because I could not believe the number of fans that were asking where the transfer monies had gone when we lost 7 million by getting relegated. I am also glad of this statement for those who say there is not enough communication between the club and the fans.

What I will also say is that he openly admits that mistakes will be made by management along the way and that's where I hope I am wrong and that is, I am not sure of the rehiring of Critchley. I noticed this statement has come out after a most entertaining and enjoyable game ,where most fans have become followers again . Well I hope this carries on because I enjoyed it too ,but to convince me we have the right manager it will take more then 1 game ,I hope I am wrong and Critchley proves SS right.

It comes across as defensive, but there's nothing in that that isn't true. I keep reading we've spent nothing in this transfer window. We spent nothing on the last day, but we did some decent business early, something we constantly criticised the last lot for not doing.

He's criticised for saying nothing, then jumped on for saying a few home truths.

It's time to stop the unwarranted criticism of everything that some seem to revel in and support the team. Four points off the top. Let's move on.
As has been said above, a little transparency goes a long way. I’m not suggesting we need to be told everything every day, but when our business is done, just put out a short statement saying so and nip all the speculation in the bud.

I'll be forever grateful for what he's done and what he continues to do.

I still feel though this shows the club hasnt got the Comms strategy right.

For me, get the Comms team to make statements on issues the fans are interested in - injuries, transfers , deadline day activities - some of the content in this statement but more timely. This would surely nip things in the bud with most fans. If there are major issues or idiots being particularly vicious on social media then the owner makes a statement which then has more impact.

Comms is so important. I read the statement feeling both grateful for what he's done but wincing occasionally at the same time. Just get Comms sorted.

Well said Mt Sadler.

No doubt some of those who ask for communication will be critical of the communication. Because there are a small entitled number of our fanbase that you can never please. So my advice is, don’t try.

I for one appreciate your financial investment and personal sacrifices, and I know of no-one else who is willing or able to do more ⚽

I wish I had a pound for everytime some fool on social media typed in "entitled" about fellow fans

Ultimately he’s just a fan of the club who wants he respect he deserves for standing up to the task. The fact is if any one of us bought the club, we would be scouring AVFTT for the general consensus amongst fans. In many ways, it shows his love for the club that he values our opinions and wants to prove himself.

I am, along with everyone I know who doesn’t read AVFTT, hugely grateful to have a man like Simon in charge and appreciate everything he’s done for us. So many years of doom and gloom under the Oystons, being disconnected with the club and actually wanting us to get relegated (how f**king bizarre is that???). Now I have a club to be proud of and a man at the helm I respect!

Win, lose or draw - I’m a Blackpool fan again!

Mount Sadler you say Lala? 😆

I'm not jumping on him or really holding this against him, he just really doesn't need to do this. I have no idea why people think a PR statement is "transparency". We publish financial accounts every year. The Oystons were actually quite transparent. We knew they spent 3.5m on transfer fees in the Premier League season and we knew Owen paid himself 11m. We also knew 30 odd million or so also went to his other companies in unsecured, interest free loans and those companies were named in black and white, and their own accounts were publicly available. Likewise we can see in the accounts the 20m or so Sadler has put directly into BFC. That's all I need, at least when it comes to assessing financial support. Not a 500 word statement.
I think the statement is for the less educated Blackpool fans.

THANKYOU Simon Sadler. What has been written is the truth. Look at the difference he has made as coming in as the owner. For example the pitch has never ever looked as good since sim is been here it’s like a bloody carpet even in winter time.
All the painting and upgrades in around the club have been superb
He’s done so much in a relatively short space of time and I’m sure he will continue to do so
I was happy with the early transfer business that was done early and I’m sure we will have a fab season if Critchley sets the team up as he did on Saturday against Wigan.
My only criticism is the PA system which has been goosed for years. I tried my hardest on Saturday to hear what was being said but couldn’t hear anything other than a blurred voice. Would love this part of the matchday experiential be upgraded.

Totally agree, Wiz, the adopted 'stance' does come across, somewhat unfairly, as being a little 'defensive'. Just to strike a slightly more conciliatory tone, I think I would prefer to go with the adjective 'reaffirming'.

As fans, we need to learn to 'cut some slack'.

I guess he puts the money in and has every right to set the record straight. I was a little irked by our deadline day and still have concerns over our squad depth to challenge for automatic promotion. I also have concerns over the entertainment of recent games, Wigan was a major step forward but is still only 1 game. It's a good job King Kenny scored the late winner or I suspect this statement would have been collecting dust until the next win. He is right though, what's done is done and we now need to focus on backing the club, there is zero value in anything else. All I would say to Simon is probably best to avoid here and social media and/or develop thicker skin. It doesn't matter which club it is, a run of defeats/poor performances will always have fans questioning the manager/players/owner/CEO/tea person*.
I think that social media is so important today it can't be avoided , and it maybe and probably is the reason why this statement was made . Now it has been ,the storm has now subsided . Till next time.

Am I wrong in saying this or reading it wrong , lower our ambitions in going up
club survival is more important than ambition , regarding look at Wigan and bury for examples
but will try to get pool up but won’t break Bank in doing it
just asking
Putting 5 million gbp in this year is a statement of intent, maybe you would rather it be 20 million, but that is a pipedream.

Very reminiscent of his communication after Appleton got a few results. We don’t appear to be learning. He gets away with it if we continue to improve but if we don’t, I’m thinking this will be another one that is referred back to again and again.
What is he actually getting away with Clappers 🤷‍♀️

We may never get to see Kyle Joseph play but I'm just glad Swansea caved in and accepted our offer to throw in ever-present talisman Jerry Yates as part of this huge deal.
If Jerry Yates was valued at 4 million ,but we got 1.5 million knocked off the sale . Then Kyle Joseph is probably the most expensive striker in Div 1 . Although I agree ,it would be nice to see him play. [who knows how much we valued Kyle at]

For me an excellent statement, very uplifting and reassuring from Simon. I have followed Blackpool since 1965 and in that time we have never been in better, more sincere or more credible hands.
Simon Sadler is the sort of custodian other clubs would pray for, I believe we have an exciting future with Simon at the helm. Well done.

I think it was (sadly) Karl who said that all the majority of fans are interested in are results (and I suppose transfers etc are rolled in to that) and I think he's right. I doubt the whole transfer stuff would have been called in to question had we started the season well.

I'd also like (not that any of us are entitled to this) a run down on the Joseph saga. Did he come injured? Is the current injury a fresh one? Why have we invested so much in to a player yet to really prove themselves?

I appreciate the update as a fan and thought it came across well - it does explain a lot of things that people have been speculating on. One thing that springs to mind is, if the squad is benefitting from extra millions, what would our squad look like without it!? Sounds like we have some high paid players that need to start earning their wages a bit more. Looking forward to seeing Joseph in Tangerine.

I just think that didn't need to be a statement. And could have been more of an update.

'Mt Sadler'...

Blimey, you can truly say you've achieved iconic standing in the eyes of certain fans when they grant you hallowed 'landmark' status!!!
