So the juror didn't think to notify the police before the trial but is doing so now he's been found guilty.Another strange twist to the story.

Been asked three times to do jury service never checked on any excuses I've given to get out of it.In a panic he fled overseas.
When I did jury service I was informed that if I had any holidays booked they'd have to be cancelled unless under extreme circumstances.
What did he tell them?
I'm being intimidated and/or bribed so I'm off!!!
Stone me, we've been rumbled guv."The whistleblower says he was approached in March, with the case in its sixth month. He said: ‘They were big blokes with southern accents. They followed me for a while. It was intimidating."
No coincidence that @Hertsseasider is currently out of the country. Explain yourselves BASIL
Depends how long ago you were approached to do service.Been asked three times to do jury service never checked on any excuses I've given to get out of it.
Idol threats.
You didn't have to go into the centre for your dinner though.2nd week of my jury duty after nothing 1st week approaching the court I notice armed police all round the court building. Helicopter above. Go to the lift inside Preston and up to the waiting area. Announce 50 names from the jury pool to proceed to a court room. They normally select 18 and ballot 6 out. 50 in the court and the judge reminds us of our responsibilities. 3 men charged with drug importation, gun running. 40 or 50 million in drugs and cash. He then gave us all a list of about 6 or 7 names asking if we knew any of them? I thought F this. Filled in the form saying I was familiar with one of the names and wasn’t selected. All 3 guilty after about 6 week and given sentences of 20 yrs plus.
The reason I decided F this for a lark was because the lift up to the jury room was there for all to see from the court’s entrance and the trial I eventually got I saw on several occasions people from the public gallery in lunch breaks in Preston town centre.
If I was retired or on a salary I'd have no problem doing jury service but being self-employed no chance for £60 a day and about £6 food allowance they give you.Depends how long ago you were approached to do service.
Possibly easier to give excuses nowadays.
Personally I accepted my responsibility to the judicial system in this country, no matter how flawed it is.
Be even funnier if he got a retrial, still got found guilty and then got 20 years.Be funny if he got a re trial and got off just to see the meltdown on this board
Free Peronis all round eh Phil?Be funny if he got a re trial and got off just to see the meltdown on this board
Exactly. It's just yet more clickbait bollocks in the Daily Mail.I have nothing against Fleetwood and certainly put the sustaining of a community asset in the Fylde well above football rivalries, but I was surprised by the long sentence, so I went and read lots of the details of the case and things like the judges summary. It's extremely hard to see how he wasn't guilty or why bribery would be needed. There was a mountain of evidence and the defendants stories were flimsy and generally seemed to be blaming each other rather than denying the fraud. That was my interpretation anyway.
Thats how I read it as wellHow much did he get offered to make up a story that might create doubt about the verdict?
I was surprised by the lack of a separate entrance for jurors when I did my jury service. Even worse, I was on the same train home as the defendant every day in my case!2nd week of my jury duty after nothing 1st week approaching the court I notice armed police all round the court building. Helicopter above. Go to the lift inside Preston and up to the waiting area. Announce 50 names from the jury pool to proceed to a court room. Sadler. Trying to gazump Poolfoot?Police are investigating, could be as retrial. It’s all a bit strange, why would anyone or group want to pay that amount to one juror, to get him convicted.
Very limited when I was there. You didn't have to go into the centre for your dinner though.
Decent cafe/canteen within the building.
Jury service - What you can claimDo you get paid for jury duty?
Budweisers and jaegerbombs last time mateFree Peronis all round eh Phil?

I’ve done it twice over the years and I got paid expenses only as I still got paid from my employer.Do you get paid for jury duty?
I think from recollection when i did it i think its a maximum loss of earnings of £80 odd quid per day. Might have changed a bit now.I’ve done it twice over the years and I got paid expenses only as I still got paid from my employer.
If your self employed you can claim for lost earnings.
Probably about right that as I remember losing a good few hundred quid both times.I think from recollection when i did it i think its a maximum loss of earnings of £80 odd quid per day. Might have changed a bit now.
Sadler. Trying to gazump Poolfoot?
From the story it looks like others took the money.Police are investigating, could be as retrial. It’s all a bit strange, why would anyone or group want to pay that amount to one juror, to get him convicted.
I dont think the process of claiming it back is that straightforward either if you are self employed.Probably about right that as I remember losing a good few hundred quid both times.
Was on nights back then on both occasions working 7 nights a week so cost me loads of dosh.
The last person to successfully "Flea Abroad" was Midge Ure.What I don’t get is why you would “Flea Abroad” because someone has offered you £20K to find someone guilty?
It makes no logical sense whatsoever.
The offence was one of fraud, so it’s not like it’s some kind of gang land / underworld criminal.
The Juror was offered money (not threatened).
And why would anyone threaten or risk being caught for trying to induce a guilty verdict in any case? Surely if you were that way inclined, you’d have gone after Pilley himself ?
Sounds like a load of bollocks to me…
In fairness the article says there was a veiled threat, but it still makes no sense. It has the feel of something being cooked up to undermine the verdict. The last person to successfully "Flea Abroad" was Midge Ure.
Sounds like bollocks to me as well, tbh.
