Blackpool v Bristol Rovers Official Matchday Thread 23.12.23

BR’s win at Bolton saw Bolton playing with 10 for an hour. We have been inconsistent, up one match, down the next. Uncertain what to expect. Just hope the winning pool side turn up on the day.

Tough game tomorrow, particularly after last Saturdays lack lustre show. Brizzle have done well against us in these past few years. Hope we turn up and move it quickly.

Any Pool win will do... we really could do with 3 points.
I'm going for a scrappy 1-0 win with a controversial penalty.
😉

The gas have been in good form lately. I’m predicting 1-2. Back to earth with a bump after overcoming the mighty Forest Green in the cup.

Depends on his team selection... if everyone available then dougal must start and connelly shouldn't as have better defenders.

But agree gonna be a tough one... let's see another pompey performance 🤞

Also why did critch bring rhodes on in the cup.... was it to cup tie him? If he is resting players then rhodes was 100% nailed on one to be....I was surprised to even see him as sub, never mind come on when winning

I hope its a great game and that you enjoy a good win, let’s be positive💪
We have to win really as we make it very difficult for ourselves away from home. You expect to lose away from home so adds more pressure on winning home games. All a bit pointless really and would be better off spending the afternoon watching Home Alone.

I'm hoping we start really strong today with team selection. It will prob be a 343 and I'd like us to start both Norburn and Dougall in that sitting CM position, Gabriel playing on the right of the 4 with Rhodes Dembele and Joseph all starting up front. I'm sure he will start CJ so he can go on the left.

Think this will be a test and more.
Given our inconsistencies very difficult to predict.
If I had to bet a day's wage I would go 2-2 .

The Pirates got a boost in confidence when they smashed Crewe in the last round of the FA Cup away and Crewe had beaten Derby in the previous round. Then Bolton away win so wont be a windy walk in the park.

I'm thinking draw 1-1 or the old favourite from earlier in the season 0-0.

We need a run. 3 wins over Xmas to get us back into contention. Not sure if this team has it in them.
Is league 1 better than last time or are we worse? Id say a bit of both

Yeah, but first full game he’s had isn’t it? Critch might ease him back in gently rather than two games in a week. Hope he starts personally
Yeah, depending on how the game looks maybe JG will get some minutes off the bench late on.

Dougall’s contract is up in June 2024 isn’t it? Maybe cashing in now?
It seems to be the only valid explanation as he is apparently not injured. You may rest him for one game but 3, no chance.

Thing is if he’s on his way then the club won’t announce anything until the deal is confirmed.

Would be huge blow if he goes in January.

Can't believe he's gone for Connolly again instead of Casey. Marv maybe injured as he's not even on the bench but played against FGR.

Kenny must be off, what other reason could there be for leaving him out again.
