I was visiting my mother in law that Xmas In Penang( Malaysia just in case you don’t know)Listening to a very patchy BBC world service football commentary( no idea what the actual game was but the scores were being given).Feeling very happy with 10 minutes to go, then you obviously all know what happened next.Several of My Wife’s relations were there, it’s what they do at Xmas and by the way I think the world of them( although her Mum is no longer with us),but I was talked in to going to midnight Mass( I’m not Catholic and nor is my wife now ) on Xmas Eve.The service lasted nearly two and half hours including a period when new adults( and I mean Adults) were baptised half way through .Bad enough losing to PKE but that was worse( sober on Xmas Eve for goodness sake which also happens to be our wedding Anniversary..obviously no connection).Boxing Day '88 Away at Preston. Winning 0-1 with 10 mins left and they scored 2 to beat us. I can still remember the car journey home. I couldn't speak!
Also a 95th minute equaliser for Man City in the FA cup in the late 80s. I've moved on now but dont get me started on how the ref didn't give a foul! That's thd closest I ever came to crying at a match. Heartbroken! Love hurts sometimes.
I must admit I thought it was 1987 but It was a long time ago
