OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

Lose a lot of quality shrinking them to post on here. The originals don’t look like they are the best part of 70 years old. Will post a few more when I get chance 👍🏼

If you buy a can of air with nozzle you can blow most of the dust particles off. How did you scan them, presumably some of the quality is lost through the scanning? They can be brought back to their best, cleaning will preserve them further. They then need a good quality digital scan. They are amazing and the fact they are in colour is fabulous!

I have been advised to add a digital signature as they have appeared on various other sites since I posted them 😏 When I figure out how to do that I’ll post some more👍🏼

Who are you like ? I was asking the lad who posted them.
Not directed at you personally just the general misconception that images posted on the net (presumed "shared") are actually there just to look at and not download/repost etc unless licensed.

Well that is some misconception.

If something is posted on the net, then it is there to be shared. Why not spread the joy of these wonderful photographs ?

Not so much an old photo but came across this recently while tidying the garage.
Piece of gold these days as think I only got about 50 made back in the 80’s when I was chairman.

Brilliant picture of The Kop. Taken by my calculations between 1975 - 1985, probably closer to the earlier date. Dividing fence went up at the end of the 74/5 season, and steps coming out of the South Stand into the Paddock etc went in during the summer of 1985 and if you look closely there not there.

Also, wasn't there a sheet of metal placed down the fence at the away side of the Kop so that the fans couldn't see each other, I cant see that either on the picture.

That's my memory of it from the couple of times I was lucky enough to have gone on it as a kid.

I remember 77/78 season the 5-2 home win against Charlton when the away fans on the Kop was less than 10. Alan Brown got potted a few days later with the team 4th in the table. Only at Blackpool.

we beat Charlton 5-1 in January and Brown got sacked after we beat Blackburn 5-2 in February. Blackpool fans called for the resignation of Cartmell and co. He stepped down at the end of the season and the rest, as they say, is history

Did those steps not in the south 1989 following Hillsborough?

Definitely in the Summer just after Promotion from Division 4, in 1985. Straight after Bradford/Heysel.

I was 15 and remember an early season game against Cardiff when it kicked off in the South Paddock, it was raining and not particularly a big crowd and those of us that were there were stood at the back sheltering. Large group of Cardiff came in just after kick off and ran into the home fans. I was hiding under the steps 😜.

Another cracker from twitter: 69/70 Team Photo.

The squad that secured promotion at Deepdale, whilst simultaneously securing Preston would be relegated to the Third Tier for the first time in their history. This year was the 50th anniversary of that fabled night, Pickering hat-trick.. the rest as they say is history!

remember being at dungdale that night sat by the touchline. The linesman was having to run up and down on the pitch as no room for him to run the line lol

Just found this whilst helping my mum clear some old bits! 1989 dinner tribute to Stan Mortensen for 50 years loyal service!

I played a few games for Foxhall Boys U14s with John Armfield between the sticks. What a honour to play in the same team as an Armfield.
