Who wanted to buy BFC and which were serious offers?

Talking about the mess at Wigan at the moment, got me thinking about if Sadler hadn't come in, who else would there have been? The King of Marbella was clearly a fraud, so who can remember who else threw their hat in the ring and whether any of those bids were really serious?

I think he was called Toh or Teh, a Singaporean who was the front man for someone else who I will not name.

Thank god that never happened as it would have ended in BIG tears AND he VERY nearly got it!!!!

Nobody else was really serious as far as I know.

I did a full background check on both at the time (SS and the this other guy) - there had to be only one winner - and believe me we won!!!

Wish I knew who you were on about, any more clues? 😉

That was my concern with the changing of hands, I doubt we could have got worse than the Oyston but we still could have ended up with someone dodgy. Worked out bloody alright with our Simon Sadler, now our biggest concern is on-pitch shenanigans, normal football fans at last!

No clue about the bidders but certainly think we got the best owner we could possibly have ended up with.

I sometime wonder if there hadn’t been such animosity between the Oystons and Dog Food Dave whether we would have ended up with him prior to The Little Latvian arriving and how things might have turned out very differently.

I firmly believe after all the crap we’ve had since the late 70s we were due a good un. Destiny!

Remember you doing some good research at the time 👍Is that the guy that Mosser & Raggy fell in love with🥰😜? Said he wanted to buy the airport but all looked rather doggy I thought he was called Tan?
Why cant you say who he was fronting for?

There was a fake bid by some Turkish restaurant owners

It might have been Tan, I cannot remember without digging it all up again, but yes the bloke wanted to buy the airport.

Some people pushed him, not because it was him but they knew who he was fronting for - and it would have gone horribly wrong.

I remember when some people got a meeting with a CEO of a company called Global something or other and they were pushing it - when I looked into the CEO it was a company with one employee who was the CEO 😂

The name of the person who was behind the scenes is not for me to disclose, everything else I have posted on this thread is in the public domain.

From what I know there were only two series contenders, the rest where playing at it or just seeking publicity.

Pretty sure Rox wanted this bloke too. Was it Peter Teh or something?

You seem to know a lot, the guy was Henry, but why are you being nasty towards some someone that wanted to save Blackpool?? Judging by the amount of time you down out of Blackpool it’s none of your business 😯

Yes remember looking at the website.
Came across like some 'logistics' outfit with little substance trying to impress.
Ah I think i may have worked out who was behind the scenes 👍

WOW

Because he couldn’t save Blackpool, he did not have the resources, and SS had to win the race.

As Poultongirl says it was Henry, Henry Teh and him and his England based frontman are very credible. When you also throw in who would have been his partner then I’m pretty sure they would have made good owners. As it was Simon did a better deal with Valeri and the receivers to which we should all be extremely grateful...... we definitely have an owner to be thankful for 👍🏼

I don’t think it could have ever worked - it was to under the table and Henry was not a good choice of front man - especially with what has happened with COVID.

We now have a fantastic owner and for that I am truly grateful. 👍

Ignore this poster a fake and clearly a wum.
They had to change their profile photo yesterday after I pointed out the picture they had was fake and from a Russian website.

seadsideone was imho only ever trying to help by shedding some light on the bonafides of other possible bidders.
If you have different info & would like to explain more about Henry and his role by all means please do so.

Then there was a consortium fronted by some Dutch footballer who I've forgotte

From memory was that Wesley Sneijder? Was he involved with the Singaporean lad?

Or was that some other Asian consortium that met with Owen, I think it was all a bluff before Val had his way with them.

With regards to the BST non bid Part of the Romantic in me would have liked a Fans owned club but without substantial funding it would not have worked.
Look at money needed to spend on the pitch and for ground maintenance after years of neglect. Then along comes the Covid situation. We should all pinch ourselves and realise how incredibly lucky we were to get SS a genuine fan owner with the required collateral.

Henry Tan was fronting local money and not Singaporean.

Although at one point it was claimed he invested money from one of the founders of 3M of which he was a direct descendent.

Although looking at the founders of 3M it appeared somewhat unlikely 😂😂😂

Didn’t BST want it free and a shit load of cash to run it....😎still makes me laugh...🤣
It would have been significantly cheaper for the Oystons as there was an indication that Latvia would ' drop hands ' on the litigation if the offer were accepted
BST could then have looked for the right co-owner to work with them and VB and diluted their shareholding accordingly
Agree though with the posts above
We've come out of this spectacularly well with Simon as owner

What about the gus who wanted to pay the Oystons in Bitcoin by creating the 1st ever 'sport' e-money
Was looking for their site but appears to have disappeared???

Strange isn’t it - BSTs offer was probably the best one the Os ever had in any business setting!

...and yes we have come out of this in a place that is beyond belief!!!

Fair do's mosser 👍 as written by the Tangerine Knights at the time

We have just left a meeting along with representatives of BST, MSG and BSA with one of the bidders for the club. TWG Global Limited and Global Ports Asia Ltd / Digiland Ltd officials Tim Williamson and Henry Teh explained their vision for Blackpool as a whole and not just the club. They are in the process of buying the airport and regenerating the surrounding areas. They also plan to overhaul the infrastructure to make Blackpool accessible to the Far Eastern market primarily Malaysia and Singapore. They openly admit that the club is a tangled mess and is difficult to get an initial figure that is required after the purchase to move the club forward. In addition club assets such as Travelodge and Quernmore Hall have been sold separately so figures have to be adjusted again. Their vision is a 10 year plan to improve Blackpool not just the club. Once we have any more information we will obviously let you know but we are grateful that bidders are being honest and as transparent as they can be during sensitive negotiations.

Was you in this meeting? I spoke to someone i knew who was in the property game at the time
Can you explain Tim Williamsons role? Are you saying he is someone who is very credible?

No I wasn’t in the meeting but helped set it up as I had already met with Tim and Henry earlier. Tim is a good bloke, he sets up deals for Henry in the UK 👍🏼

Paul Stewart was fronting a company wasnt he.
A sports management Co who were interested in a few clubs.
The King of Marbs,mossers mate😂.
BST wanted money for taking it off Owens hands.
A good job we got Sadler. 👍🏻

Henry Teh and Tim Williamson.....

I checked all of their recorded business dealings and they were not exactly successful.

I went through all their directorships and filed accounts (across multiple countries) and I was amazed at the lack of success, failed companies and lack of cash.

I even got their home addresses and price of their properties.

Thank god they didn’t get BFC!

But the one bit you missed was who they would have been partnering 😉 Anyway that’s all water under the bridge now and fortunately we have a good owner in Simon and good board members in Brett and Ben Mansford 👍🏼...... oh and todayistheday, the king of Marbs certainly isn’t one of my mates 😳

I agree we have the best outcome.

But any deal that requires a front man normally has something to hide - which that one MAJORLY did 👍

Yes, Henry Teh. I was close to someone who knew his U.K. rep and he’d been trying to buy Blackpool for a long time. I saw pics of him with OO at a meeting but the info I got was OO kept doing his usual tricks so it never materialised.
When the receivers came in he bid again, and I believe he had the finances, but they went with Sadler which we can all agree was the right call.

He didn’t have a pot to wee in - let alone the finances to buy the club 👍

He proved that he had enough for the receiver to agree to meet with him in London the day before they agreed the deal with Simon 😉
Oi Marton mosser are you sure the king of Marbella is not one of you drinking partners 😁

Thats easily achieved - you don’t actually need a suitcase full of cash.

If you were doing it in debt finance you would at most need a letter from a mate saying he will lend you the cash 😉
