As Blackadder would say "sausage eating swine and "fat blokes in leather shorts" spring to mind
Thank god the Rhine is deep and fast flowing...Cologne for the Lent parades. Never been as pissed. Eating street food for 4 days too. Never saw cutlery all the time I was there.
Which was your favourite city (not including your football experience)Been on plenty of footy trips staying in Cologne. Mainz, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Freiburg, Dortmund and Hamburg
Also been on non-footy trips to Berlin ( albeit during a World Cup ) and Nuremberg
Love the cities ( particularly the Aldstadt areas ), culture, history and their approach to football
Never had a bad experience yet and can't wait to return
Just like London, Manchester and Liverpool. As were both my grandfathers, both took part in raids on Cologne and Betlin for us to be here now.Did cologne and dusselsdorf last year. Loved the place, it's a pity the cities were smashed to bits and lost a lot of history. My grandad was partly responsible
Iāll have to get it on Catch Up itās not on 5+1 at 11 ttj.Now on Channel 5, The World's Most Scenic Railway Journeys goes through Bavaria and to the Southern Alps. Fabulous. Catch it on 5+1 at 11pm or later on My5
That's Karneval. Guaranteed piss up everywhere you go.Cologne for the Lent parades. Never been as pissed. Eating street food for 4 days too. Never saw cutlery all the time I was there.
Did a festival in Freiburg town centre. Lots of small brewery stalls, bratty stalls and a good band on. Hire or buy a glass and go for it. Happy memories.Been on plenty of footy trips staying in Cologne. Mainz, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Freiburg, Dortmund and Hamburg

Pity the BLM protesters had to pull all those statues down and go on about slavery. Some of us have moved on from things that happened 80+ years ago.
Obviously better than Albufera then.Cologne for the Lent parades. Never been as pissed. Eating street food for 4 days too. Never saw cutlery all the time I was there.
I was in Wiesbaden and the OberurselNah - Iāve done most the big Xmas markets over there.
Hamburg Christmas Market is brill and the alternative one is much much much better
I lived in Germany (Frankfurt) for 18 months - everywhere is brill apart from Frankfurt as itās boring as .......
Occasionally itās ok - try living thereI was in Wiesbaden and the Oberursel
Frankfurt is alright for a night out or a beer on the river restaurants.
Similarly for me, in Sainte Chapelle in Paris. The first sight of the stained glass windows upstairs literally takes your breath away. Stunning. If you go to Cologne, make sure you go into the Cathedral.
There are the most wonderful stained glass windows I have ever seen. I just went slowly round and stared at them for ages.
MrsDP had to shake me and say we had to go.
You will be very surprised how beautiful the country is and how nice the people are, well worth a visitOnly heard good things about Germany. On bucket list.
we did a four day trip a couple of years ago to Berlin.. xmas markets were great...then got the train to Prague for 2 days...but when you book german trains you are allowed to book a break in the journey...so we got off at Dresden for 3 hours then continued on to Prague. I didnt mind Dresden Mrs wasnt as keen.Would like to visit Dresden.
533 steps to the top of the spire. I was knackered when I got to the top, but the view was worth it.If you go to Cologne, make sure you go into the Cathedral.

Whilst living in Germany in the late eighties I bought tickets for me and a mate (living in England) for what I assumed would be the deciding match of the group stage of the 1988 Euros, against Russia - little did I know. We were already out when the match took place. The Balmy Army was horrible but fortunately, because I got the tickets At a ReisebĆ¼ro we were in a non-aligned part of the stadium. 3-0. three bloody nil!Occasionally itās ok - try living there
There are very few bars / Beer Kellerās in Frankfurt. There are a fewApple Wine places where you get rather drunkies for very little - but I am not the biggest fan of Apple Wine.
What they do well is the odd street festival in summer and the Xmas market.
The best fun bit is the Sachsenhausen area, but pretty much every bar allows smoking inside and doesnāt get busy until very very very late on a Friday or Saturday.
The most boring place I have ever lived!!!!
I went to Nuremberg in 2006 for about 5 days. Watched England beat Trinidad 2-0. Stadium was next to the steps where Hitler did his massive rallyās. There were fans stood on the steps doing nazi salutes. Which you can get arrested for. Great place though, good food and really great people. Would go back sometime.Went to Germany for the first time last year. What a wonderful place and great people.
Love Ammersee area south of Munich. Played footy there 6 times, love the place.Yep great place did Munich and the German Lakes(Stanburg)couple of years ago.
Fantastic people and didn't find it overly expensive only problem was my phone didn't work all the time I was there and had to go oldskool and buy a map.
