The Germans

Yep great place did Munich and the German Lakes(Stanburg)couple of years ago.
Fantastic people and didn't find it overly expensive only problem was my phone didn't work all the time I was there and had to go oldskool and buy a map.😁

Stayed overnight at Rothenberg ob der Tauber last February on the way back from Austria. A lovely medieval village, which claims to be the home of the Christmas Market. They have a torture museum as well.

Did cologne and dusselsdorf last year. Loved the place, it's a pity the cities were smashed to bits and lost a lot of history. My grandad was partly responsible
Rothenburg also suffered severe damage from bombing raids towards the end of the war and was reconstructed afterwards, paid for in part by public donations received from all over the world. Well worth a visit if you find yourself in the area.

When I went to Hamburg, we did some cultural sightseeing as well as the more well known stuff. St Michael's church rebuilt after the war. The spire was a long walk up. Everywhere we went the signs read 'destroyed by the British'. After a while you just want to say "Well you started it", but we refrained.

Ooh, It’s a Zulu, the only person on here who didn’t get an invite to the 21st century

Always wanted to visit Berlin for a weekend getaway, taking in the history and having a general city break. Amazing for it so I've been told.

HOPEFULLY will be going Oktoberfest at the end of September this year for a stag do, not quite a culturally enriching experience but should be a good'un. That will all depend on the covid situation of course.

I’d book your table now for the Oktoberfest TP if still available it gets absolutely rammed!

Love Germany. We've got a Rhine/Mosel cruise booked for later this year.
Hope it's OK by then, but not sure it will be.
Been to Germany many times. Got my love for the country in my National Service days.
Wonderful country, and never had any problems with the people.
Love the Black Forest & Bodensee (Lake Constance) and the surrounding area.
Garmisch Partenkirchen is another favourite.
I found out, not too long ago that Thuringia is a lovely area also.

Both the Munich and Stuttgart beer festivals were brilliant.
Have watched both Bayern Munich and Stuttgart play at home too.

I got an invitation to the second half of the last century and beyond due to the efforts of my forebears , their comrades and the brave non shirking non fifth columnist members of their generation so I can enjoy freedom. Remember that and make sure you bend the knee in deference to them daily

Wiz, my one abiding memory of Hamburg is when I was there in 1954.
Walking round we came across this Church. It was a shell, walls still standing but empty inside.
I'll never forget it.
My other memory of that day is getting pissed and going for a row in the river, not alone of course. 😉
