Think I’m currently on my 7th time of watching this. Greatest series ever made for me
Watched it three times. May have to return for number four after I finish watching Boardwalk Empire for the second time.Think I’m currently on my 7th time of watching this. Greatest series ever made for me
My favourite scene by a mile is when they Christopher in a group meeting before they go to rehab. It's meant to be constructive but ends in mayhem.Sets the bar really high, along with The Wire.
Pine Barrens is just a brilliant episode.
I missed that thread but peaky blinders is not even worth a mention alongside the sopranos. There was a thread a while back Sopranos vs Peaky Blinders.
At that point I'd never seen the Sopranos but loved Peaky Blinders.
Think most of the votes went to Sopranos.
Watched every episode since and get the voting now. Every night I came home I'd slam the door shut Tony style
Done at least 7 watches myself but started the wire again and that pips it for me as best ever.Think I’m currently on my 7th time of watching this. Greatest series ever made for me
Quick calc 7 seasons x 13 episodes per season x 7 times = 637 episodes. Wow that’s a proper lockdown!
The wire I found difficult at first because of the language and constant mumbling from the corner kids, which would be for authenticity.Started the Wire and then ended up going on to something else. Need to get back on it as it sounds very good.
Are they doing a prequel or did I imagine that?
A prequel film called The Many Saints of Newark, set in the 60s. I think they have finished filming it now.
The Talking Sopranos podcast, hosted by the actors who play Chrissy and Bobby, is a brilliant watch/listen. They review each episode and have cast and crew on as guests.
The wire is astonishing. It truly is.Done at least 7 watches myself but started the wire again and that pips it for me as best ever.
After reading the various posts about The Wire, I think we'll give it a try.The wire I found difficult at first because of the language and constant mumbling from the corner kids, which would be for authenticity.
I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes a few times and really struggles then it just clicked.ike the sopranos it gets better on every viewing because you miss so much first time.
Glad you enjoyed justified, another absolute treasure. After reading the various posts about The Wire, I think we'll give it a try.
Last year you recommended that we watch Justified.
It took us a few episodes of S1 to get into it but we loved it. It got better and better.
We're not really in to watching programmes over and over again, but we might have another look at The Sopranos because it was brilliant.
It is though, probably on my 5th rewatch and feels as fresh as ever. And frightening. David Simon worked with baltimore police for a year to get it right (and homicide and the corner which he did). The wire is astonishing. It truly is.
I really like the dockers one as well but the yeah, the schools one is stunning. It is though, probably on my 5th rewatch and feels as fresh as ever. And frightening. David Simon worked with baltimore police for a year to get it right (and homicide and the corner which he did).
Season 4 of the wire, based in schools, is unrivalled for me as the best season of television ever made.
Season 2 on the docks is fantastic and my second favourite by a short hair.I really like the dockers one as well but the yeah, the schools one is stunning.
I resisted watching it for a long time as well as the hype was so intense. I generally find if something is hyped to the level the wire is, it's at best 'quite good' as opposed to what it's claimed to be.Season 2 on the docks is fantastic and my second favourite by a short hair.
Season 4 with watching the 4 friends develop and find their way in a frightening environment was stunning. Plus season 4 had Snoop really coming int it, and played the part of a femaile baddie unbelievably, it was only when I googled her a few years ago she did time for murdering someone, did her time and then landed the role.
