No one should inherit public office.

No it isn't. The death penalty was removed in all cases. Last man to be hanged was arrested on Central Drive for local trivia fans.Treason is still a hanging offence

I wonder how many posters who criticise the ‘unelected’ European Commission support an unelected monarchy
What a pointless post.Talk me through the Queen's role in our vaccine procurement programme please.
There are all sorts of models. They don't all have to be like the USA, where the President is Head of State, head of the armed forces and head of the Executive. The trouble is who would we replace the Queen or the monarchy with?
A leading candidate in the 70s and 80s, when she got kicked out of Downing Street, could well have been the “Wicked Witch”. God forbid anyone like that!
It might not be too long before we find out. Can’t see the public taking to Charlie Boy as King!
Do you still believe in a United Kingdom? I only ask because in 2014 the Queen stood by as Scotland nearly rode off on its own course. No authority and no point.Send her victorious, happy and glorious! Long to wind up wokey folks. God save our Queen.
Aye, God save the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha family.1. The country gets more money back from the monarchy than we spend on it.
2. They are worldwide ambassadors.
3. They are something we should take pride in and are admired around the world (especially America, ironically).
4. They do a lot of good for charities and good causes and raise the profile of key issues using their status.
5. God save the Queen and all that.

Much better to leave positions of authority to the population who of course know best. No need for people who have been brought up understanding the role.Seen as an admins seen fit to remove my thread regarding the petition yesterday, here it is again.

I’d happily see Scotland, northern Ireland and Wales fully independent. Up to them if they keep the Queen as head of state. Not sure any of those countries could afford to go it alone and if they wanted England to guarantee their security it would come with a very large cost.Do you still believe in a United Kingdom? I only ask because in 2014 the Queen stood by as Scotland nearly road off on its own course. No authority and no point.

Yep.You've not lost your 'cooking spoon' again have you?
Not too bothered about point 5 but the rest is valid and the reason I voted that I dont think we should bin em!1. The country gets more money back from the monarchy than we spend on it.

There would be a lot more people on the dole without them.1. The country gets more money back from the monarchy than we spend on it.

Point 5 was to annoy the anti-monarchy brigade above. Not too bothered about point 5 but the rest is valid and the reason I voted that I dont think we should bin em!
Great. Let’s get the bunting ready.Looks like another petition that isn’t going as expected by the agitators!

What a pointless post.
1. The truth isn't out there (many conflicting 'opinions' are)1. The truth’s out there
2. The majority. Not the odd weirdo already shunned by own family
3. Can’t deny it. Bet even Kim-Jong Un has a framed photo of them in his bog
4. Don’t be uncharitable
5. And again
Just because you say you are not sneering doesn't mean that you are not.For those who come on these sort of threads shouting God Save the Queen and posting pictures of the Union Flag, might it be more about wanting to show a sense of upstanding decency? A sense of both political and social conservatism?
I'm not sneering btw. It's a sense of duty and citizenship that my parents hold. I believe it is unnecessary and, indeed, harmful to our politics and social well-being to conflate these ideas of citizenship and morality with retaining a Monarchy.
I’d happily see Scotland, northern Ireland and Wales fully independent. Up to them if they keep the Queen as head of state. Not sure any of those countries could afford to go it alone and if they wanted England to guarantee their security it would come with a very large cost.
Will is an absolute hampton.... I think we need to just cut them loose once the old bird is cooked.Once Liz and Phil have departed this world just reduce the monarchy to Wills, Kate and the kids. The others can be given an isolated estate in Scotland, provided they are never seen again, apart from Andrew, who must be extradited to the US for trial.
Wills and Kate allowed one London Palace and one country estate. The rest should be returned to the State and any income used for charitable causes.
That seems like a compromise solution to me.Once Liz and Phil have departed this world just reduce the monarchy to Wills, Kate and the kids. The others can be given an isolated estate in Scotland, provided they are never seen again, apart from Andrew, who must be extradited to the US for trial.
