There is a lot of comments about the strength of the squad. If we compere it to McDonald's , Bowyers/ McPhillips players I think today's group is stronger and more talented. Not saying they are all championship level but are good enough to compete in div 1. Thoughts anyone.

We can compete but are a few quality players short of a promotion side. There's little in the way of creativity and not enough goals in the squad.

All too obvious.
We need more creativity and goals from midfield so that could mean bringing in either one or two midfielders who possess those qualities.
We need more goals from our forwards / strikers. At least one or possibly two who have decent goalscoring records.
Also, when the likes of Gabriel and Ballard return to their parent clubs they will need replacing, as will some of our out of contract players should they move on.

Without the first 9 games we are a promotion team.
We don't need a right back, we have two good ones. We have excellent centres halves but 2 have long term injuries, bad luck. Gabriel, Ballard, Marv Gretarsson Garbutt is pretty much Championship level, certainly heading that way, although I don't really see garbutt as a defender. Stewart and Dougall are excellent at this level. Ward more than adequate. Virtue is getting back to full fitness and looked good yesterday. CJ is obviously good at this level, still getting his fitness and confidence back. Kaikai can be but is not consistent enough. Yates has adapted and is now scoring at a good rate. Madine is a good leader of the line at L1 level. Simms and Embleton have ability but are learning how to play senior football. We are just short of sharpness in the final third. We don't move the ball clinically, only Garbutt can cross a ball, and not enough people are keen to go for goal. Ward can hit a ball but rarely does. Kaikai doesn't get in on goal enough. Madine neither. Simms has the pace to run beyond the defence but nobody is playing the passes.
