Our foreign aid budget should only help countries that have our queen as their head of state? As long as they don’t expect help/support/finance when the next hurricane hits that’s fine by me.
Agree, Egypt last last week Barbados this week he’s certainly racking up the air miles up.Another unnecessary flight by Charlie boy while preaching to the great unwashed about climate change.
Most certainly they should come long before any else. Our foreign aid budget should only help countries that have our queen as their head of state?
Why?Most certainly they come long before any else.
Why?Why?
Surely aid should be given where it is needed and where it is most effective.
So in your world our foreign aid budget should be targeted at only 15 states, (which include New Zealand, Australia and Canada) because they have an elderly aristocratic woman of German descent as their head of state? Most certainly they should come long before any else.
Look after your own people first in my book.

Oh god.As long as they don’t expect help/support/finance when the next hurricane hits that’s fine by me.
Do read what I said.Oh god.
You’re not going to sulk all day are you?
Was in a Hurricane shelter there in 2004. After the Hurricane passed noticed the Hotels Pool had all the water sucked out of it and was full of crabs and frogs...thousands of them.Barbados is outside the hurricane belt we’ve been going every January for years, apart from last year. Storms are prevalent in autumn when there are outbursts of ‘liquid sun’ (rain). Most of the older Barbadians are still very fond of the Queen, can’t see the transition making a lot of difference tbh, they’re too laid back to let it bother them.
All the kids seemed more interested in basketball when I was there. Was in a Hurricane shelter there in 2004. After the Hurricane passed noticed the Hotels Pool had all the water sucked out of it and was full of crabs and frogs...thousands of them.
One of the best places in the world, and have to disagree slightly with a previous poster about leanings towards the USA. Found a strong allegiance towards Britain, albeit with the desire for being a republic.Besides USA are crap at cricket
There were quite a few Basketball Courts dotted around, agreedAll the kids seemed more interested in basketball when I was there.
Think you were a bit unlucky there as it is a rare occurrence, the older guys still love their cricket but maybe the younger generation will eventually lean more to the USA,the US dollar is a shared currency as you probably know. Love the place can’t wait for January all being well! 🏖🏝Was in a Hurricane shelter there in 2004. The young ones are certainly influenced by Ms Fenty. Last visit was 2016 and can't wait to go back, especially to OistinsThink you were a bit unlucky there as it is a rare occurrence, the older guys still love their cricket but maybe the younger generation will eventually lean more to the USA,the US dollar is a shared currency as you probably know. British overseas charity - where the sun never sets, eh.Most certainly they should come long before any else.

Yep aid should be given where it is needed. Why?
Surely aid should be given where it is needed and where it is most effective.
So you think that the Government will divert all overseas aid into social care? Just look at their current proposals. The D Day veteran will be no better off.Yep aid should be given where it is needed.
They won't look to the UK for anything, the Chinese are pumping billions into the Caribbean Islands. As long as they don’t expect help/support/finance when the next hurricane hits that’s fine by me.

Obviously!Out of the goodness of their hearts......................
I think you and I both know the answer to that.So you think that the Government will divert all overseas aid into social care? Just look at their current proposals. The D Day veteran will be no better off.
That explanation still won't quell any emotion, it still comes across as putting others before our own.If the Government doesn't do enough to spend on homeless veterans or whatever your most desirable cause is - that's because they are utter bastards. It's not because they spend an insignificant sum on forgein aid. We set a made up budget every year and have deficits and print our own money to pay it off. If the Tories - who have been in power for 11 years - wanted to end homeless, or help 'our people' they could start tomorrow and whatever we spend in Barbados would have no effect. Wish people would stop falling for this utterly nonsensical idea of how a country's finances work.
True the Chinese are taking over in BarbadosThey won't look to the UK for anything, the Chinese are pumping billions into the Caribbean Islands.
Does it matter if they choose to.The Crown through our Government( whoever it is) has very very little ( if any) to do with the politics and day to day running whichever country it happens to be that has the Queen( as it is now) as head of state.British Queen no longer head of state. Still staying in the Commonwealth though. Barbados
Australia next?
All in all, it's no bad thing
But choosing to do so.They're essentially in the process of becoming a Chinese colony, on the face of it that might possibly be a bad thing.
But choosing to do so.
Every chanceThere wasn't a referendum on the subject, it wasn't on the manifesto in the 2018 elections and it seems that something like 65% were in favour of the status quo.
Personally I suspect a lot of bribes have been paid, the next step will be some large Chinese development loans that mostly get embezzled, then the loans get called in, the country can't pay so they're now the de facto property of China
China is ruled by a very small number of people.
They have complete power over everything that happens in their country.
it's called 'Democracy'.
The largest population on earth ruled by the smallest number of people.
Of course their are elections, however only one party stands.
Their 'democracy' is that you have a choice of candidates, but all those standing for election are Communists. (or whatever they're called these days).
