Transfer deadline day thread

Shock, horror.
Oxford player appeasing fans after emphatic win!!

Watch tomorrow's TTV IF we sign Brannagan with him saying "I've wanted to sign for Blackpool ever since they first showed an interest, a great club and can't wait to help them rise up the table "

🤷‍♂️
I know, I'm only updating with what little comment there is from the player himself. Hopefully he sees his 4 goals as the perfect send off before he signs on for guaranteed Championship football. 👍🏼

Norburn in permanently.
The little lad in on loan from Bournemouth.
Nuttall to go.

Bowler to stay (hopefully).

We’ve had these great expectation days before, hope I’m wrong but I think that’ll be the only activity.

With new faces arriving (hopefully still one/two more to follow today) he’s only going to end up dropping down the pecking order hence the club would be better off loading him and giving him a better chance of regular football elsewhere.
Like CJ two weeks ago. 🤣

Brannagan in with Thorniley out.
Norburn permanent or Kilkenny to join on loan depending on whether the deal is done. Robson to MK Dons if Norburn arrives.

If silly money is offered for Bowler we bring in Morgan Rogers on loan.

Maybe a new loan for left back cover.

My fear is we are chasing a lost cause in Brannagan, I guess we must be hearing different things from his agent but we need to make sure we have other irons in the fire. It's going to be a long day..

As a caring club we could give the "clown" a few hours employment to man the fax machine. That way we are guaranteed the retention of Josh Bowler. Any other change in personnel this window is irrelevant ,in my view, as I think we are already safe for next with our current squad.

I wouldn't employ him to clean bird shit off of the seats in the East.

Just my ‘three ha’penth.
Bowler is unique. We haven’t had a player like him since…….
If it’s a big fee, Bowler will go. But: three goals, how many assists? Not that many. Might Charlie Kirk beat that by the 46th game?
Branagan will stay at Oxford. He likes being a big fish in a medium size pool.
These are not the dark days. There will be outs and ins. My guess is: we will all be satisfied overall. No deliriums!

Bowler stays

Brannigan in
Thornley out
Kilkenny in on loan
Nuttall out
Robson out
Last min cover CB/LB utility player Loan from Prem Club

Brannagan bid rejected, according to a reliable ITK on our side
Bit weird don't you think? If you're desperate to keep him. And Brannigan doesn't want to come. Why are we on our 4/5th offer so far?

I rate him but I don't rate him to the lengths we're going to get him.

Agree. Sick of seeing his name tbh. I’d rather us spend a lot less money and get Norburn who we at least know can definitely cut it at Championship level.

My predictions...

Bowler will stay
We won't get Brannagan
We'll sign Kilkenny on loan
We'll sign Norburn on a permanent
Nuttall deal to Scunny will be confirmed
No other players will leave
Agree with you BFC 53 except that we won’t sign Kilkenny but will sign a wunderkind from Liverpool on loan who most of us will know nothing about who will prove to be awesome! 😃

Bowler will go, as will Robson, Nuttall and possibly Thorniley. We will end up with an unknown from league 2.

I think it’s a Rubik’s cube kind of a day and a lot will depend on whether some of the biggest potential moves happen, eg Brennan Johnson and Fulham’s Carvalho. Players like Josh Bowler have been identified as replacements for potential big ticket movers and, in turn, clubs like ours are interested in replacing/strengthening if the sale happens. A domino effect kind of thing is basically what I’m saying.

I think if you read NC’s comments on Bowler it’s pretty clear that the club will sell if their price for him is matched (and I don’t think it’s as much as £2m though it could get bidded to that). There’s no way he’ll sign a new deal with us and with only 18 months left we can’t contemplate letting him walk away for nothing so it’s either now or the summer for Josh to leave for a decent fee.

If asked to say yes or no to whether Bowler will be our player come 11pm I’d probably say no. But, like NC, I’d be very happy if he still is.
Nail on the head this

One of my team is a Shrewsbury fan and is clued up enough for me to respect his opinion. This was his view on Norburn:

'Great on the ball. Too good for League 1'

I can understand Oxford’s stance on CM, they need him for their promotion push in a very competitive league and he could be the difference to going up and falling short again. He’s worth more to them than he is to us. It’s a similar situation with Johnson at Forest, he could be worth 100m+ of Prem money if he makes the difference. Both teams would still get decent fees in the summer.

Bowler is a bit different, we’re looking like we’re safe in this league for next season so if there’s a difference of a million between a fee now and one in the summer we might look to cash in and we can reinvest. I’d love Josh to sign an improved deal but I just can’t see it happening when there’s so much interest around and the wages other clubs can offer.

Birmingham City had a £1.5 mill offer accepted for Siriki Dembele.
Player turns the move down.
Blackburn now in the running.

Is Bowler worth more or less than Dembele?
Reports are that Blackpool would accept £1.5 mill, that's not enough for me🤷‍♂️
