Why are Blackpool fans obsessed with Brannagan ?
We need an attacking midfielder, and Brannagan seems to be Critch's main target. Why are Blackpool fans obsessed with Brannagan ?

Earlier the betterHis release clause is around 1,500,000 with one year left on his contract.
Going into this Summer, if they have not been promoted and he doesn't wanted to sign a new deal, we'll surely be able to sign him on the cheap as their bargaining power will be MUCH lower than it was in January.
Would be nice to get that deal over the line nice and early in the Summer.
No, the clause is there every window but closes 1 week before the deadline to stop their key players being nabbed at the last minute.Has the release clause not expired?
Be a weird one that staying in Lge 1 as can't see Portsmouth making the play offs.Oxford forum think he might be on his way to Pompey at the end of the season.
There’s no release clause anymore. It expired. If Oxford don't get promoted the door will be open for a Brannagan bid. As far as I'm aware though there is a £1.5m release clause in his contract, which is there for a reason. Oxford could decide to cash in at a lower amount but that would solely be their decision. They still hold all the aces.
You suspect entirely incorrectlyI suspect we can't afford him
No clauseNo, the clause is there every window but closes 1 week before the deadline to stop their key players being nabbed at the last minute.
That's not what I've been informed by pretty well connected Oxford folk. He has a buy out clause, that will still be there, it is believed to be £1.25M - £1.5M region. Whether Oxford would be more willing to negotiate given he will have only 1 season left to run. As a Championship club, that is small fry, if he's the player Critchley wants, the board needs to get the deal done.No clause
So why haven't we bought him?You suspect entirely incorrectly

In fairness, he’s over-valued at the Clause trigger price. We’ve obviously been led to believe a deal can be done (maybe by the agent), but Oxford have stuck to their guns.So why haven't we bought him?
He's obviously been Critchley top target for a good while now and we haven't met the clause
The clause expired… they didn’t want to sell in January. We were prepared to pay £1.2m. The summer is differentSo why haven't we bought him?

Our last offer for him was a million on the buttonThe clause expired… they didn’t want to sell in January. We were prepared to pay £1.2m. The summer is different
I’m led to believe there’s now no clause…instead an agreement that if they don’t go up he can go for an acceptable fee. Not sure how you can say he's over valued on the trigger priceIn fairness, he’s over-valued at the Clause trigger price. We’ve obviously been led to believe a deal can be done (maybe by the agent), but Oxford have stuck to their guns.
We probably need to put a serious early bid in next time, if we are still interested and then just move on to the next target (if we haven’t already).
Spot onWhoever comes it's somewhat of a comfort that we already had Norburn in the pipe for a sizeable fee.
This season was partially a recovery from Covid revenue fallout but with another season's Championship revenue's to look forward to Pool can widen the horizon's within reason ,a position they were not in last August and any blowout would have been a huge risk had we gone down.
The Bowler scenario is a win win given he was a free and again under this stewardship inward investment is a given and I'm sure the collective come the end of July will be stronger either way with or without him.
He leaves in the summer if Oxford don’t go up.We really could do with CB handing in a transfer request as I feel Oxford will just play hardball again. Either that or hope there is a gentleman’s agreement they let him go should they fail to win promotion.
Oxfords options are cash in for 1.5M or keep him for one more promotion attempt with their best player albeit they will lose him for nothing next summer. I think they may prefer the latter.
Not really as Norburn is a completely different sort of midfield player to CBSpot on
Surely he's only worth what someone is willing to pay for him
Don't go down that route again like you did during the Premier seasonYou hear this argument a lot, but it's a policy driven by people with more money than sense.
At some point in the real world you have to start factoring in the fact that clubs have finite resources, and in this Division ours are more finite than most. And whatever "value" you ascribe to him is also affected by who else we might be considering paying a fee for. The only people who know are in a position to weigh all of that are inside the club.
The time to judge our summer's business will be when all of it is done.
The answer to that is "nobody", so your opinion counts for as much as mine.Who's knows what improvement Brannagan would have had on this squad if we had of paid his value
The manager obviously rates Brannagan very highly hence why he has tried to sign him a couple of timesThe answer to that is "nobody", so your opinion counts for as much as mine.
It's all a matter of judgement, and if you had had your way the manager would have been sacked last February because he couldn't take the club any further.
No, I just think that “Market Value” and “Trigger Value” aren’t matching up on this occasion. Other Clubs don’t appear to have been queuing up to sign him, so as you say he’s only worth what someone is willing to pay.Not sure how you can say he's over valued on the trigger price
Surely he's only worth what someone is willing to pay for him and if another club buys him for his clause then thats his value
You been listening to expert commentators again?
I thought the plan was to get both. Not really as Norburn is a completely different sort of midfield player to CB
Straight swap for Thorniley would be taking the piss thatBrannagan is obviously known to NC through his Liverpool connection but tbh he has been a League 1 player for 5 seasons at Oxford. He's not a 25 yr old Luka Modric so there is no way we should pay anywhere near 1M for a player going into the last year of his contract. In fact I would offer Thorniley as a straight swap or throw in Ethan Robson who played well at that level for MK Dons.
I think you're right, a pity Norburn's done his cruciate in.I thought the plan was to get both.
Straight swap for Thorniley would be taking the piss that
Absolutely but it was the commitment to meet the fee quoted as an indicator of what's to come. Not really as Norburn is a completely different sort of midfield player to CB
