Hull keeper linked with us.

Either Maxi won't be a number 2 or we are selling Grimmy.

I assume it'll be the former rather than the latter!

Me too but this is the model, bring them in develop and sell on for hopefully for a big fee. If someone comes and offers a million or two (can’t see we would get much more) when we got him for nothing 12 months ago it’s good business I think. We then reinvest and go again.
It’s the model yeh, but we don’t want to let players go before we can max their transfer value and Grimshaw’s value playing a full season for us would only increase.

It’s no coincidence we’ve had better results when he’s played.

Agree with this. You don't cash in at the first hint of a profit.

If this MI story is true then Max should be the one to make way. And none of this keeping him as a coach. We've got Banksy in there and they youth seem OK. No need to increase the wage bill.

You would think it would be Maxwell that’s off surely.
Rumours are that a lot of clubs are looking at Grimmy, apparently he had offers from Premier League teams before he came to us. Wanted first team football so came to us as opposed to being a third choice keeper at a prem club. Could be that these sane clubs have seen what he has done this season

The key word being rumours.

Although next summer well be triggering the plus one of his contract and that reduces the fee we could haggle for.

Yep that’s true. So get him to sign a new deal now, with a release clause and maximise and protect his value. He’s only going to get better.

It’s not till Maxwell came back and he’s kicking the ball into touch that you realise how important Grimshaw is and how much better he is in goal.

Well the Clampets would lose Pope should they go down today. They’d have money to take Grimmy off our hands for a massive discount compared to the sale they will get for Pope

He won't sign a longer contract, I reckon. He obviously came here to get game time, to prove himself, when he could have gone elsewhere for more money. There are clubs who will offer him now much more than we can afford. He'll be careful to go somewhere that gives him a prospect of game time obviously. That prosoect is good given his performances for us, against the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth.

It also feels to me like Sadler is stretching things as far as he can financially, and will need to take in some cash from player sales. Just how it feels.

I think there is a bit of that but also that we have players now who are attractive to other clubs. The days are gone where we sold players and never saw a bean reinvested, whatever’s comes in and a bit more we will re-invest and go again. This is the cycle/model now which I for one agree with.

This….

Probably the start of what will become the norm for Pool going forwards. This is precisely what was to be expected if successful in recruitment and selling on.

The key and comfort here is it's all done for a reason and as long as the proceeds are invested to ensure the collective is strongernits all for the good.

As long as we kick off 2022/23 with a better side than current it's a win win.

We will just need to be brave in the interim whilst the ins and outs level up as no doubt at times their will be a delay between the two and that's when everyone becomes fearful of the family silver being sold off.

As they say trust in the process.

I'd certainly like to keep Grimshaw for another season and it makes sense to. His value is only gonna go up. As asked of Nixon it would be interesting to know who's in for him because that could determine whether he goes or not.

Exactly this…. We need better at the sharp end of the pitch and these things cost.

I think he's our most valuable player and we should try and give him a new contract. Surely he will want to stay another year, he's not had a full season as number 1 yet and there is no guarantee he will get that elsewhere.

Not a coincidence our results improved with Grimmy in goal (and dipped when Maxi came in for the concussion injury) - and that was before the players were ‘on the beach’

How long does Grimmy have left on his contract? Didn't we give him 1 year with an another optional. If that's the case then we need to sell him whist we still have him under contract.

It would be nice to see his talent flourish though for a couple of seasons before he goes, otherwise what's the point of being a football club!.

I’m not overly concerned tbh. We have Maxwell and Moore. GK’s aren’t too difficult to come accross and if we can bring in some money it’s only going to be used to better the squad as a whole. Not many clubs have 2 GK’s who equally deserve the No.1 spot. Usually you have a No.1, a prospect or loanee happy being on the bench and then if you’re really lucky a 3rd choice GK who’s good enough to step up if needed but generally speaking is happy just being a pro at a good club and who trains well week in week out.
We have Maxwell and Grimmy who can both be No.1 and of whom neither will be happy being a back up option. Moore seems content being that 3rd choice option. Maxwell won’t bring any significant funds in and arguably offers more off the pitch than Grimmy. Grimmy can bring in some money and another GK can be brought in who’s either a happy No.2 or is willing to bide their time in order to replace Maxwell. Either way Grimmy moving on makes sense from a lot of angles and it likely suits the club and player.

He knew he'd be a No 2/3 from the outset. It's no more than luck that's he's had half a season. Even more luck that Moore didn't keep the shirt after coming on- what went on there?

Fair question but I think the right question is why was Moore ahead of him for that game? Grimmy looks like our best keeper, having seen all 3.

Maxwell was my player of the year last season. He doesn't seem the same following his injuries. He also showed good handling but against Derby he looked shaky. I thought the Derby keeper was excellent in that game but wasn't he a number 2 to Ryan Allsop who we had on loan.

Just don't get why we'd be interested in him and did we release the other keeper we had?

We have 3 at the moment.

I think we need a first choice- Grimmy, Moore as back up and a young 3rd keeper. We don't need Ingham, nor Maxwell, as long as DG isn't going anywhere.

As I posted last week, plenty of interest in Grimshaw including a fairly low offer to test the water from a fellow championship club that was swiftly rejected. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave this summer though.

Unless the fee is beyond £1m it would be madness to sell. Another season developing as he has and who knows where he could end up and what fee we could get.

Even at a mill, you'd have to sign someone else and if he's in demand then wages will be decent too.

I wonder how Grimmy feels himself?
