It's Appleton :(

Odd appointment really, last time he was here he couldn’t get away fast enough once he got a better offer…what’s different now?, yeah better owner, but still a small budget…?

Terrible.
No success at this level at all.
No ambition shown by the Club.
I've met so many interviewees over the years who can talk the talk but not walk the walk.
Just pray we don't go down. And if we're anywhere near the bottom third at Christmas, get rid of him. Don't leave it too late.

We shouldn't judge him on what happened last time, after all that was with the stains.
I too am not totally enthused by this appointment but will support him his endeavours.
Definitely won't be singing Appleton's Tangerine Army though.

As underwhelmed as I am , the people running this club see him as the right person for the job . Saddler has taken this club and moved it massively forward since the Oystons- I will at least give Sadler and Appleton a chance .

So will I, but it's a deflating appointment

He needs to be given a chance. Like he said, it's now the right club at the right time. He was here when the O's were at there worst and the club was a car crash. We're a different kettle of fish now. I hope we do see this aggressive attacking football that gets us off our seats, all of this thread will be forgotten within half a dozen games if so.

There's a silver lining to the negativity. No more happy clappy nonsense after a gutless or negative performance, he's raised our standards just by being appointed.

You can't argue with the quote from SS who is much better placed, with his entire team of paid professionals, than any of us like-to-think-we-know-it-alls!

“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Michael back to Blackpool. I am very much looking forward to seeing what he can achieve during his second stint with us. Whilst success cannot be guaranteed, Ben, Brett, John and I are convinced that, after a thorough recruitment process, he’s the right man for us at this point in our journey.

“All of the prospective head coaches were strong candidates and we spent several hours with each to get to know them better. After debating their individual pros and cons, we were unanimous in our decision to choose Michael Appleton.”
Whilst I agree with your point to a degree, if the same were to be applied throughout football, very few clubs would ever make a bad appointment.

We've so far had Grayson, Critchley and now Appleton.
We could, potentially, be looking at a success rate of 33%.

What process are we actually trusting?

(I appreciate if it works out it'll be 66%, but I truly cannot see it happening).

He’s only 46, experienced, says he wants to play aggressive, exciting football. So what we want now Michael is for you to smile sometimes, clap the fans, wave to them, no shirt kissing, no fist pumping or kissing the badge, oh and get us off to a winning start with your exciting football, but I’m sure you know all that.

Wonder if BSA have still got the Appleton's Tangerine Army sign? 🤔🤪

He needs to embrace the muppetry , I hope he scowls at us with contempt every time we win and then shouts 'are you not entertained'.

Nobbers are p*ssing themselves on their site.
One thing one of their posters is right about tho is why do we always start 10 threads on one subject - crazy.
Let's give Appleton until end of September b4 we build the scaffold for his public hanging lol

I didn’t want him at all but he has done well at a couple of clubs and could do well for us. There was no guarantee that Rosenior was going to be successful and he was a risk.

The board have seen something in him, he has a lot to prove and should be hungry.

I’m ready to get behind him.

Weird appointment for you lot, not gonna lie.
He's a decent manager but not sure he's cut out for the Championship. Deserves to be given a chance but hardly a fans favourite appointment

Not my first choice at all, and generally an underwhelming appointment.

However after thinking about it a bit more, who would have been truly inspiring out of the pool of candidates we were fishing from?
Duff & Rosenior were the only two others interviewed, and whilst Duff had a bit of success with CTFC and Rosenior talked a good game neither were truly inspirational candidates. That's not to say Appleton is either.

However, as I've said before the board have got more right than they've got wrong so they need a bit of leeway from the fans, whilst being a bit underwhelmed we can only really judge Appleton on what he does from this point on.

It could well be a disaster that ends up with us being relegated, if it truly is a bit of nepotism on BM behalf (which I don't believe it is due to SS having the final say) it will quickly be found out to be a bad decision because the club operates in one of the most meritocratic environments possible.

We as fans should, as with every manager judge him on the results and performances he puts out on the pitch bearing in mind what success for our club looks like in the next few years. Namely, staying in the division with the hope that we play nice football which represents value for the ticket & other monies we plough into the club.

Can Appleton deliver that? Who knows, maybe, but come on we need him to succeed, lets not put any form of barrier in front of him. We all need to be behind him, he will live or die on his performances, judge him at the correct time from a position of support.

I think that's a decent appointment for you guys & I wish him well. Has a lot more experience now that first time round & knows the leagues well. FWIW good luck. Adds a bit more spice to the derbies to boot being an ex-nobber too!

I will support Blackpool whoever is manager. The Board carried out the interviews and have reached a decision.

It would be interesting to know if Rosenior withdrew before the offer was made. I am struggling though to think that Mike Duff was not considered good enough for this post.

If only people like yourself made up our board of directors, ey?

Certainty won't be a season ticket stampede after this totally uninspiring announcement! Don't seem to remember getting excited and jumping out of our seats last time he was here!Just remember that cold and impassive death stare with his arms folded.

One thing for sure. If this goes boobies up early there will be a lot of poop hitting the fan- I can't even guess what the boardroom would become.

People might say in 3 months if he's been shit or whatever, it was a bad appointment by the board or whatever...

But if he was the best candidate for the job, which i trust is true as we have a very capable owner and team running the interviews, then anyone else we employed instead of Appleton would have done a worse job than him anyway.

So stop yer fuckin moaning!

Mountain to climb Michael as you can see if you’re reading this board, hope you get a decent transfer window and a very good summer of training.

On a 4 year deal. Dreadful. A backwards step.
Totally disagree, I’ve just listened to his interview, very honest and clear about last time and being here now. If he plays the type of football he said he will - remember his Lincoln team where really attacking and exciting to watch in the play off season - I think he could be a good appointment. The club clearly have faith with a 4 year deal. With the right recruitment which will start in earnest now you would expect and what we have already we could be in for a decent/good season. Like him or loathe him he is now what we have and like anyone in life he deserves a chance. I for one will get behind him and give him 100% of my support. I trust SS and the board to make the right call - if they are convinced then let’s go!
