Brannagan off

There's was games being played there.

He's clearly not confident in his own ability, so we shouldn't be taking a risk.

Move on, there's players out there that are ambitious.
We have been played by him knowing that OUFC can afford to pay him more as he is basically signing as a free agent for them.
We have to pay the £1.3 mil and then pay him as well, so he was on a win-win whether OUFC made an attempt to keep him or not.
Scared of failing by him and no ambition.

Or maybe he came with every intention of signing and just didnt get the right vibe from Mansford and co...it isnt an isolated incident and there seems to be an issue somewhere
That's possible, but It's stretching the imagination a bit to be honest.... The more likely scenario is that there wasn't a big enough difference in the personal terms to persuade him to up sticks from his comfort zone.

I hope the tit hasn't demanded a buy out clause in his new three year deal. Seems pretty pointless when you have no ambition to better yourself.

Looks like I was right once again, just like I was with Critchley…
I don’t think you were exactly right, looks like we were in but one things for sure, for a variety of different reasons we just aren't completing these permanent deals.

That being the case then the club could have renegotiated and made sure they got him...you wouldnt let him get away for a small weekly increase...it smacks more of him not getting a feel for the club...apparently he travelled today so something must have unnerved him...surely Mansford needs to explain what has happened...the fans deserve that following on from a disastrous window

Because that's exactly what's being reported. He was in the North West to finalise the deal and Oxford offered more money so he went back and signed a new contract.

Even if we had been played by him, how are we not offering him more than Oxford are?

Oxford have blown their whole wage budget to keep him and the club simply isn't playing ball.

Convinced he doesn’t actually exist, he’s a made up character by Oxford in a bid to make them relevant.

In all seriousness if he’s happy playing at Morecambe and Forest Green for the rest of his life let him crack on, complete lack of ambition on his behalf. I hope I never hear his name again

When does this become a worry? Not getting him isnt the issue, its the issue we cant seem to complete a lot of deals, we need 2/3 players with quality, players who undoubtedly improve our squad, we arent even really being linked with anyone and the ones we do get linked with sign for someone else/arent for sale, huge few weeks coming up for the club, wonder what appleton is making of all this 🤔

Maybe he realised that there is every possibility that Blackpool could get relegated this coming season, Hence his descision to stay at Oxford in League 1 on a longer contract/improved wages, in a league where he might end up anyway.

Appleton has had the chance to sit down with these players and sell them the club, his ambitions etc. After that players are repeatedly going elsewhere, even if it’s a league below. I don’t feel any sympathy for Appleton, Infact he is as to blame as anyone else.

But we've got no idea what we offered and no idea what Oxford offered....

What's a "Small Weekly Increase"? £500 ? £2000? £5000?... There's only so far you can reasonably go, before it has a negative impact on the rest of the squad.

On the travelling up to Blackpool front, I wouldn't read too much into that really (All just part of the charade being played out to get the deal he wanted from Oxford) It would hardly be a very good negotiation with Oxford if he hadn't travelled would it? So making a 400 mile round trip in a car for the day is kind of a tiny price to pay in the grand scheme of doubling your annual salary for the next 3 years....

I'm just not buying the idea that "something unnerved him" . His comments in the media suggest he's settled, I'm not convinced he ever really wanted to come to Blackpool. We've just found ourselves in the middle of a negotiation stand off IMHO...

We dont know the reason these players are rejecting us, what we do know is that it’s now happened more than once so clearly there is a red flag for the players which is stopping them from wanting to come. I thought we had left all this behind when the scum finally left but this is becoming a new level of embarrassing, at least then we knew the reasons, now we are just left guessing

I did think this would have been an ideal signing for what we need, but the bloke is clearly comfortable in L1 and doesn’t have the minerals to test himself… strange that no other championship clubs were after him if he was all that anyway…

I’m back from the wilderness what has been happening with all these players changing there minds Ben at the last moment there is some thing not right going on behind the scenes can you please post and let the fans know exactly what is going on as the fans have a right to know.
As we know that you read this board at least have the decency to let the fans know I actually said to a pal of mind before the deal was done and dusted not to. Hold your breath as it is never a done deal until the fat lady sings and I was proved right onwards and upwards to our next target hopefully we will get our next target over the line.

Not been on the board all day. Just catching up and I’ve gone from Brannagan signing to him not signing in the space of 5 minutes. 😯🤨

Chalk another one up to Calamity Ben. Starting to make clown shoes Koko seem competent.

He’s this decades Joey Beauchamp. Scared of being found out that he can’t do it outside of Oxford . They call Blackpool a slum and they all live on the Blackbirds Ley estate ! Enjoy your love in you scummy little fuckers.

So that’s Colby, Simms and now Brannigan, there’s something seriously not right at the club. You can’t fuck up that many deals, it doesn’t feel right and it hasn’t sins the last quarter of last season. I’m totally deflated to be honest and just fucked off with how inept we are.
Dont forget Lyons. F***ing shambles.

Reading the comments from the Player, I really don't think there's much more we could have done really... In fact I'm not convinced the player was ever really serious about making the move. If we've messed up in any way here, it's probably in wasting too much time pursuing a time waster.

We are probably borderline on the payscales for where we are at and what's expected simple as that.
That’s my impression as well. Borderline on the acceptable / not acceptable offers. Same for wages. Others nip in and put a cherry on top and we inevitably lose out. Or it’s not worth their while moving, even up a level. That and Mansford must have the selling technique of Del Boy and the charisma of a stick of celery.

Out of genuine curiosity, why are you so convinced that the club not selling it to players is out of the question?

I agree it’s the less likely answer but it is a possibility.

I’m switching off now. Go on Saturday and see who starts. Everything else is embarrassing now.

Maybe but either way too much time wasted and to keep chasing him without completing it....

To go back again we had to be sure, 2 days before the season starts... this sort of deal was giving everyone a lift.

To keep missing out is draining, it's not building hype or creating a buzz, it's ust embarrassing us.

Loans are nice but don't feel as good as permanent deals, when you own the player for years, develop them and can sell them and reinvest, its all part of the clubs plan to improve.

But were not getting deals done, very frustrating.

A variety of different reasons maybe, but ultimately it's about completing the deals.

I just think it's the least likely of the range of possibilities...

We've obviously managed to attract players previously and I really don't see a reason why players would suddenly change their mind on the basis of a conversation alone.

I'm not quite sure people realise the extent of the complete pantomime that will go on with regard to these types of negotiations and the extent to which agents will go to in order to angle the best financial deal for themselves and their 'client'... In many ways, that's why I've often come out in support of KOKO's attitude towards the transfer dealings.

The reality is that we're not the most attractive club and were not the most attractive part of the country. So we're already on the back foot as far as attracting players is concerned... Add into that the budgetary constraints and it's not hard to see why we might struggle to get certain deals over the line.

To up sticks from a beautiful part of the country like Oxfordhire where your family is settled etc... and head up North to live in Blackpool is going to require a big financial incentive IMHO... If that financial incentive doesn't exist, then why bother?

All a mess but the one positive is the club haven’t spent a million quid on a guy who clearly has zero ambition to play at a higher level. Fair play to him for getting himself a payrise with Oxford but it will be noted by other clubs and he won’t be playing championship football unless they get promoted.

Took one look at Squiresgate and said no thank you.
It's not squires gate anymore, it's the E energy training centre.

Doubt that would be a deal breaker, it's not that bad now, the money will be key, take it you were being humorous with your post?

But why would they want to join Blackpool, I mean come on, not exactly a step up is it and yes we are minted 😂💛💙🤣💙
Not a step up joining a club that has played premier league football, plays in the division above you and actually has a 4 sided stadium 😆 (not to mention we absolutely played you off the park last time we met). Enjoy Brannagan anyway, you can enjoy league 1 together, neither will be seeing the championship anytime soon
