O/T speeding ticket

May I ask anyone is it best to do the speed awareness course ?
Yes…I unless your insurer is Admiral as they count attending these courses as the same as having points and you invalidate your policy for anything other than 3rd party if you don’t tell them you’ve been on one.

Also yes if you already have points

Sorry who are the tossers, the driver of the speeding vehicle or the people enforcing the speed limits?

oh I’m sorry mr goody two shoes . Bet you bought an apple to your teacher at school didn’t you , and I’m sure of course that you have never driven over the speed limit …….. no , you probably haven’t, in fact I bet your one of these really annoying people that drive about 10mph

Defo worth doing the course. It's (ever so) slightly cheaper, saves you points and as someone else said, is bizarrely quite interesting. You can do it online too, although they are very strict about no-one else even entering the room while you're on the course.

🤣🤣🤣

I try to keep to the speed limit, MrsDP says 'You're speeding' even if I go to 32mph. So I have to keep to the limit.
Gone are the days when I was Telegram Boy on the BSA Bantams.
I was driving the Bantam on The Moss one day when there was a Buzz in my riding helmet earflap.
A bloody wasp stung my ear lobe. I flung both hands to my ear, then realised I was doing about 40+mph.
I stopped the bike immediately.
Such is life.

Why have you felt the need to post your incredibly witty reply for a third time? 🤔

As I originally posted above.

Nope, I probably break the speed limit everytime I get behind the wheel of my car and I've been caught a couple of times.

What I did do was accept it, put it down to experience and not blame anyone but myself.

So you've never ever broken the speed limit?

I'd say it's impossible not to have.
Of course I’ve broken them who hasn’t?

I’am purely making a point if I got done I wouldn’t be berating the system, as I’ve said previously speed limits are there for a reason so if you break them then accept the punishment and don’t blame the system.

DP,
Didnt know motability scooter could reach such speeds 😅

My wife just did a speed awareness course last week. It's done by zoom in your own home, usually with about 8 other people on the course. It's just a case of watching a presentation by the trainer and answering questions etc. All very relaxed. Lasts about 2hrs 45 mins. Costs £87 and no points on your licence. Cheaper tha paying the £100 fine.

Several years ago I was done twice on the same day on Preston New Road, driving to and from town for a game against Barnsley. Took the speed awareness course to save 3 of the points, well worth it to avoid having 6 points on the licence. We got stuffed 3-0 as well, a day to remember for all the wrong reasons. I make bloody sure I stick to the speed limits driving in Blackpool nowadays.

I just took the points as I didn't want to waste time being lectured by some officious prick.
I did one a couple of years ago online and the guy who took it was anything but officious.
He was very funny and made it a very pleasant experience even though none of us wanted to be on it.

I’ve done a few… they’ve trimmed them down over the years… The early ones included a practical driving assessment and lasted the full day.

The newer ones are over and done with in a few hours. You do learn a few things and the blokes who run them are normally fine.

There’s generally a tosser or two in among the attendees mind you.

Always said that we have a site full of Saints.
Never speed, never cheated, never broke a law.

Keep up the good work and see you at Sunday Mass.

You must have been doing nearly 40 on your speedometer as it is always higher than the actual speed.

I did it to spare myself the points and like many on here found it really interesting. The fact that stuck with me most was hitting someone at 20 mph gives the victim an 80% chance of survival. Hitting them at 30 mph gives them a 20% chance of survival.

I’ve just got a ticket from Sunday. Going through Garstang near the Horns pub.
My daily drive is Golf GTi and I get done driving our Campervan, which wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding! If I can do the course, I will - not had any points on my licence for over 20 years…..

Buy a electric trail bike, ride it on the road with no insurance ,tax, mot, helmet, swerve round any traffic , disobey all Highway Code and regulations , no problem ! Get caught doing 36 mph on the prom after spending 45 minutes at 8 mph 😡 Discuss

The technology is here , we can have autonomous vehicles, no one will be able to break the speed limit, no deaths or injuries , plumb in the NAV and press go , even if you are pissed !
