Tin pot

Everyone looking forward to todays match too. On a high with a new manager etc. Great atmosphere with fans up for it.
How to kill the good feel factor! #BFC🙁
To be fair, the Manager said it was Richie O’Donnell’s Team and that Richie was in charge for today’s match..

Today’s game was probably as important a game as we’re going to play all season….

So do we want to go into it with a weakened squad and a ream cobbled together by one of the coaching staff or do we want to go into it when Mick has had chance to sort the squad and stamp his mark on the Team?

I think this is one where the Fans have to put their personal disappointment to one side and focus on the bigger picture…

We need to make sure every home game (for the rest of the season) is bouncing, regardless 👍

Bit messy mind.😆
We've had worse pitches...

You're a ** idiot, if we had undersoil heating then great, game would be on but we don't and for the reasons I have stated that is why the game is off so stop spouting bollocks on something you don't understand.
Language Timothy!

So, my Masters in Horticulture is for nothing then?

This is indicative of the amateurish way this has been dealt with. I repeat- stop trying to defend morons. It makes you look stupid.

This is why, stop ** moaning, it makes total sense if you understand why.

You have to understand that the majority of the ground is covered from the sun at this time of year by the stands, it's not just last night's frost, it is a cumulative effect over several nights, once the frost is in the soil and temperatures stay belo freezing or just above for some of the time then the ground will get harder and harder, deeper and deeper. It is no surprise to me the game is off, temperatures on the pitch will probably not been above zero for however long the frost has been there, if it was down here it is 6 days now and the ground, even in the sun is absolutely rock hard.

I know a lot are upset because of the new manager syndrome but ou would all be moaning like fuck if we lost 3 players to injury because of it. It is the right decision and MM can now really get stuck in with the training and go and have a free hit next week before our next league game. The euphoria of his first home match ill just have to wait.
Says the man with a birthday do this afternoon. 😆

Oi, I rarely get the chance to talk about something I actually know about, I usually spout utter bollocks like the rest of us, let me have my moment of glory, please!! 😂

Mind you. I'm pissing up a wall with some on here who just don't get it. I understand everyone is gutted but it's not the clubs fault it is what it is and it is the right decision. I wasn't going to be able to watch it but my plans for today have been transferred to tomorrow now so I am just as gutted.
I’m showing my age a bit with the Percy Thrower reference TBF…

He would be 110 on 30th Jan 😮

I think the big difference between the pitch at grassroots and the pitch at Bloomfield Road is the exposure of the sun. With grassroots football there aren't wrap around stands that obstruct the sun needed to help thaw the pitch in the corners.
And they're kids not multi million pound footballers in an important game. If people want to blame anyone blame the vermin because they should have had it installed when they won big but they were just c**ts!

Yep, the south of the BR pitch at this time of year will get little to no sun whereas a kids pitch on common edge is in full sunlight all day.

It’s a lot easier for us exiles to be more positive about this situation, if I were still in England/Cornwall I would have come up for this game and also been massively pissed off at the decision to cancel, you have to see both sides here…

It’s the 21st century now. You really think they can’t move those heaters around as required

🙄
They do move but they wouldn't keep the frost out of the ground as they are used in the main to promote grass growth.
Over a prolonged frost of several nights, it would be like painting the forth railway bridge once you got to one end the other end needs doing again.....

So what about all the other grounds in the championship do they not get sun?
Only 3 games off in league one last time I looked.

Who are the morons? The referee? The Oyston's (can't argue with that)

If you have a Master's in Horticulture (which I very much doubt) you would understand why it is off. If you think it is Sadler's fault for not installing undersoil heating then that's your prerogative although I think he's had quite a lot of other things off the field he's had to invest in to clear up the mess the vermin left it in.

It is off for the reasons I have said, it's as simple as that. If we lost a couple of players to serious injury because of it then the same ones who are bleating now will be the same ones bleating that it should never have been played.

So what about all the other grounds in the championship do they not get sun?
Only 2 games off in leagues one and two last time I looked.
Have said I wished it was on and covers should do a job, they didn't.

Most home grounds playing today in the championship are established teams who've been in the prem, or have far bigger stadiums not built by the Oystons right?

Is there anyone playing at home today that doesn't have it?

Yes good point,I was worried that today's team would still have some of Appleton's influence on it

I understand that, it is absolutely gutting for exiles who have made a long journey for nothing, all I am saying are the reasons why it has been called off. I would be totally fucked off if I had travelled all that way too, it's hard enough when there is a game on. So I don't see that as a side, it isn't a reason the game should be played but I take your point.

No mention of heaters, do we have any?

Yes, a bloody big one up in the sky. I know it's nearly 93 million miles away but it seems to work.
Except at this time of year only about a quarter of the pitch will get the very weak sun . Even in mid summer the south end hardly gets any and lighting rigs are used .

I also give up.

Every other game is on in the UK isn’t it? How do all these professional football players manage do you think?

Tin Pot is correct
I just had a quick look at the BBC website and there are close to twenty matches off, actually.

When I did some work at the club I was very struck by the amount of round the clock effort that was lavished on the playing surface. It's something that is taken very seriously. At least in this case there is a silver lining in that the manager gets a bit of time to do his thing before we have to compete for points.

Nothing to do with undersoil heating.

All the junior football matches in the area are being played.

They do have heaters at BR for the pitch obviously big Mick doesn’t fancy it 🙄
They're heaters for helping grass grow not defrosting a pitch FFS, and I explained about football pitches and kids games.

Yes I’ve also just checked the games off.

We are more League Two standard rather than Championship it seems.

i know that, but the south stand corners do not get any sun, unlike local playing fields and grass verges

Firstly if we stay up under soil heating is a must imo.

Secondly when they uncovered pitch early doors and had a doubt could they not had said there would be pitch inspection at 11.30 or whatever time? Also does the ref make this decision or can club just make the decision?

You can explain it only so many times herts, it would appear some either can’t, or don’t want to understand .

Oh OK so there is nothing available to the ground staff that could sort the pitch problem out?

No plan ….. ok

That’s a Tin Pot option as per the OP is spot on 😂
