I won't be buying any season tickets if McCarthy is still in charge next season

That, in a nutshell is exactly what I think. A clear, reasoned argument with no abusive messages, just seeing it as he sees it and he’s not alone, far from it and people who don’t see it now will eventually get it. He’s not saying it to gain notoriety, it’s a view many of us think and it absolutely has to be heard. No problem with people who don’t agree, that’s the way of the world but to ignore and put silly one line retorts isn’t helpful and just means some like to stick their fingers in their ears and dismiss it without actually thinking about what is said.
It's always been the way on this site

Play the ball not the man is a good way of explaining it 😉

Is it?

Ah well, I can live with that 👍

If you don’t enjoy watching the lads, then you’re under no obligation as far as I’m concerned.
I didn't enjoy Tuesday and I didn't enjoy Saturday

I will try again this Saturday and again away at Swansea

The football is gash though and I'm starting to think is it really worth the hassle in travelling

The league we are in is irrelevant as I've watched us in all 4 league's. I'm just not willing to waste my time and effort trapesing up and down the motorway every week to watch a load of big lads just launch the ball into orbit

It's the worst football I've ever seen at Bloomfield Road

And I've seen some right shite with Jimmy Mullen, Sam Ellis, Colin Hendry, Lee Clark, McDonald etc etc

It's dog shit ......
It's certainly not easy being a football fan. I've seen all that you've seen and a lot more. I'also been an exile since 1972 but admittedly only an hour for me.
I've also seen some shockingly bad football but then had the respite years through the "Noughties".
It looks pretty certain that Big Mick is only short term so it's a bit premature making next year season ticket declarations yet.
However I have made mine and I will renew whatever but that's just me. I don't dip in and out but fully accept my circumstances are different to yours.
What I would hope is happening now though is that BFC are identifying the next Manager and possibly even giving him some form of pre-contract. That person needs to be looking at the squad we have currently and giving 2 lists to the recruitment team for next season. One for the Championship and the other for League 1.
The new man needs to be up and running on 9 May.
It won't be Mick McCarthy.

Don’t go and watch the matches then, it’s simple.

The football was terrible on Saturday and Tuesday, but if everyone had your attitude then there’d be hardly anybody there for the rest of the season.

Thank god we’re not all the same.

But I will go to the matches it's what I do

I just don't think I will next season unless something changes

Is that that hard to understand?

That’s your business mate…. I’m under no illusions about the football between now and the end of the season… I processed that once the appointment was made.

I’m not interested in getting repetitive moan injury👍
It's better than getting a stiff neck from watching the ball nearly hit the floodlights

I struggled to drive home not being able to bend my next

Unlikely ally here and I must say I wouldn't knock you for one Phil.
With my worsening mobility and health, I was thinking on the way home can I be bothered next season if this happens?
I don't travel quite the distance you do to say fuck it but far enough to think it.

But I will go to the matches it's what I do

Is what hard to understand? You answer questions that aren’t even there, so that can be a little hard to understand.

If majority had your mindset then we’d have gates of about 4,000.

As I said, thank god people see it differently and will be supporting the club, rather than getting their knickers in a twist over a style of play they don’t like.

I couldn’t care less what the style is like, as long as it gets results.

It’s Phil’s choice to (a) decide if he gets a season ticket or not and (b) post his thoughts on here. He has made some valid points. I’m not at the stage of questioning my season ticket commitment but i only now have a couple of hours travel to the games but likewise i do want to see a team compete and at least attempt to play football, irrespective of boycott years, were we are in the league, etc.

For me the first half at Boro then at home the other night were as bad if not worse than under the previous regime. Yeah we had a “thrilling” conclusion but the style of play was awful but maybe just maybe Madines sending off will be a blessing to us in how we play going forward.

I know that come 2pm on Saturday i’ll be watching my phone for the team news with trepidation 😭 and we will take it from there.

I do go to the games

Home and away and I have been for years,

All I am saying is I don't think I will renew my 4 season tickets next season

Can't argue with how poor the football was on Tuesday, but I ended up really enjoying it because of the last ten minutes, left feeling on a high.

I think this thread will become a salient point in the summer though, no matter what division we're in. People won't continue to pay money for dog rough football week in week out.

You're about 4 months too early with this one Phil, because I love the club I want the best for it. The best at the minute is staying in the Championship, I think MM gives us a huge lift to do that, by hook or by crook. Towards the end Appleton had lost the ability to drag results like Tuesday night out of the squad.

As I say this thread needs to become a big topic in the summer.

I think it's reasonable for Sadler and co to get a clear message that the fans do not want giraffeball beyond the end of this season so don't even think about it. I think it's quite clear that there's no intention of retaining MM though.

FFS

Now the board know what they have to do.

Just seen this on twitter from a couple of younger members of the board, their reaction to the OP.

You sound like me nan. Bunged up Tuesday, Bunged up Saturday, I'll have another try this week.

I get the travel thing. Put your feet up and shout at the telly instead.

Are you stopping going the games as well?
As you are probably aware I don’t go because of the distance and work commitments. But to answer your question I am anticipating moving back to the Gold Coast later this year and because of my long exile, wild horses or MM wouldn’t stop me getting a season ticket, I can’t wait. I watched home and away in the 70’s and 80’s, re-election, everything but if I lived as far away as Phil does, at my age I would struggle with the travelling and super long day.

fair post this and sums it up for a lot of people. My only question is McCarthy gives us a huge lift? He does if he plays the right personnel in the right positions and plays a bit more positive football.

Better days ahead then 👍

Down by a goal and a man for most of that game on Tuesday, then going down again so close to the end, it's counter factual, but for me there's no way Appleton's side would have got anything out of that game. MM fooked up big time with the way he started that game, but the factual shows me that he changed it just enough to drag us through a game giving the squad and the fans a massive boost.

Obviously the next page in that story isn't written and we need to see how we react on Saturday, but I have a sneaking suspicion Tuesday night will be a turning point.
We had to change from Appleton, McCarthy was about as good as we could get, the lift we needed. But this threads questions will come up in summer what ever happens, and rightly so.

I hope you are right but I still can't get my head around why they have gone for McCarthy

fair points however if madine wasn’t sent off i don’t believe we would have had that outcome. However that has gone and we did so we move onto Saturday and a massive game. We did have to get rid of apple i agree and yes will be an interesting summer indeed irrespective of division we care in!

No body cares if you go to the game or you do not go to the game. Bore off you always post negative shit.

I think it's not that many seasons ago when you wanted Sam Allardyce back. Am I right?
I've told you why I think they appointed McCarthy and I don't think I'm far away from being right.
I've never rated his Managerial skills either (nor Sam's) but let's at least give him a bit more of a chance than 3 games (or non in your case) because we're stuck with him.
Stop worrying about something you can't change and concentrate on giving the players the support they will need on Saturday (which I'm sure you will) because Rotherham won't be easy and they're another on the list of "bogey" teams.

Yes I did at the time I thought Fat Sam would have been a good option to get us out of Lg 1

I've said before that whilst Fat Sam and Dick McCarthy get tarred with the same brush, Fat Sam is miles ahead of Dick

Dick is a 'wish' version of Sam

We really didn’t, we lumped it up to Madine and hoped for the best.

Same as first half on Tuesday, granted for 30 mins of the second half we attempted to lob it at Yates’ head.

Bit miffed McCarthy has left star winger Beesley out his squad though.
No we didn't it's completely different as the stats prove

Nah we aren’t believing stats, or anything posted online as facts, a bit like Mick always playing 5 at the back throughout his career 😏
No always playing long ball throughout his career

The stats are in the public domain, most long balls and worst passing accuracy stats in the last 2 games that we have had all season

We aren't even trying to keep the ball that's the worse thing it's not like we are trying to pass it and missing our players, the players are just twatting it long

Their first goal came due to a miss timed hoof

I'm not sure

I can see a scenario of us staying up and McCarthy getting a new contract

It's not out of the question but I don't think it will happen. It's not what we want, its not who we are, and I doubt Mick will want to stay either. Long way from home and doesn't need the money. Or the heckling.

Will see ....

I just hope the club are looking at somebody else who can take us forward and get this project back on track

I’m sure fans come and go each season. The whole ‘no faith in the board’ excuse is a right load of old bollocks though tbh.I suppose it just goes to show how football has changed for the worse that folk now want to poke their nose into everything.

I can get why someone might not enjoy watching the style of football..( I can’t say it bothers me really) but as long as the board aren’t bankrupting the Club or nicking all the money I’m happy.
Maybe because it’s about entertaining people that have paid £30 for a ticket, if you went to watch a film at the cinema and after two mins it came up on screen THE END you’d probably not be happy, but hey they could just turn round and say, we’ll we got to the end, it doesn’t matter how we do it👍🏻

Correct me if I’m wrong Phil but didn’t you post on here last summer stating you weren’t going to renew your ST for this season until you got clarity from SS on a number of points you listed in terms of where the club were heading?🤔

fair points however if madine wasn’t sent off i don’t believe we would have had that outcome.
Thats is a good point. A sliding doors moment.

If we see something like that starting formation and line up again on Saturday then I might be way off seeing it as a turning point. Looking forward to Saturday.

Yes I did and then Brett Gerrity gave me a call so I renewed

Let's be honest, you would be the first to criticize anyone else if they had posted something like that under Appleton and call them all sorts of names. Let's see what happens between now and the end of the season.

If ‘entertainment’ is what you are looking for, then maybe try the theatre or Funny Girls 👍
