When he’s signing cheques of half a million every month, covering shortfalls of hundreds of thousands, just be grateful he’s ours and loves the club. Compare and contrast with some of our mouthy lot who seem to begrudge tipping up £15 to watch Premier League opposition in the FA Cup. Not a single pre let in sight, certainly closer to a dream owner than 90% of English football club owners. Made mistakes yes, he's human.

The opening post was a very fair question which, on the whole has had some decent replies, apart from yourself and the usual few mushrooms who just don't want any discussion at all.

He’s a great owner. Puts his money where his mouth is and invests in every part of the club, constantly.
It doesn’t always pay off because football is the most volatile industry on earth and money can be lost in a black hole with no guarantees whatsoever.
He’s still finding his feet when it comes to bringing the right talent in to drive us forward, wasting a few quid in the process.
Got duped by Appleton, McCarthy and that nobhead from Coventry, again a harsh lesson which cost him a great deal last season, but you don’t see him feeling sorry for himself.
All things considered, a local lad choosing to pump £100m of his own money into our club over a 10 year period can only be good for us.

To answer the question you have to remember that it wasn't just the Scum who owned the club, before them we had Cartmell and co and that was just as bad, so over 50 years of terrible ownership. The fact we are still playing league football is amazing.
Sadler has steadied the ship when it needed steadying. He has sorted out so much behind the scenes and improved the ground, pitch and training ground beyond being recognisable. He has also put in proper staffing in all areas and invested substantial amounts of his own money.
Is he perfect? Not really. He is inexperienced and naive, he hates any form of criticism and he has a problem with picking a decent manager. He comes across as a bit too safe and a little bit uninspiring. He also seems to have a high turnover of staff at boardroom level and just below.
He hasn't really been in charge that long in the grand scheme of things and is allowed time to learn a job that most of us, who if we had the same money, wouldn't do it for anything, so he has to be praised for putting his head above the parapet and his money where his mouth is.
He wants the same as the rest of us, Championship football and flitting with the EPL. The East stand is the next project and then the training ground. I do think the training ground is a bit ambitious so I expect it to be dumbed down a bit, but we need to see more regular progress because it has been such an elephant in the room for so long. (I say this as someone who actually thinks Squires Gate is good enough, footballers are too mollycoddled these days, training there is character building and it has been improved so much). My priority would be getting in the Championship and getting the East built. We are getting crowds now in League 1 we could only dream of under the vermin and we need to build on that.
So, for me, it's all good but room for improvement.

This might be a pointless thread but it’s got several laugh out loud moments.

I look across to the likes of Bournemouth, Burnley, Brentford and Luton with a little envy at what their owners have done. But then I look at Reading, and further down the pyramid at Scunthorpe and Southend who were both Championship clubs not that long ago, and shudder at what might have been.
My overriding thought is that after having to suffer three decades of wilful neglect, deliberate underinvestment, and total apathy from completely unfit owners and knowing how helpless we were at times to do anything about it, the top priorities for me in a new owner were genuine care, having the clubs best interests at heart and someone who would have some pride in the club. The kind of person who would actually be embarrassed by allowing the pitch to deteriorate into a ploughed field, and who wouldn't be satisfied with the state of the training ground. Someone who we could be confident that if we ever achieved the miracle of the Premier League again, the money we received would go into developing the club and not the owners property portfolio.
I think we got exactly that.
When you think what we've been through and what we've had, we've really only had five years of behaving like a normal football club in the last 30 years - nearly a quarter of our existence. That longevity of neglect and also the reputational damage that does takes a long time to repair.
I can forgive poor managerial appointments tbh. As long as the intent is there. SS isn't perfect by any means, but I reckon for what we needed as a club after what we'd been through previously, he's a good one.
