January 2024 Transfer thread.

If this is true then the decision to loan out Apter gets worse by the day. A 20-year-old who has been out injured for half a season and scored one goal on loan in league two last season against Apter who has five goals, two assists, motm awards and has been named in numerous teams of the week.
I’ll be fuming if this happens.
Valid despite them both playing different positions.

Apter is playing weekly and developing well at Tranmere. We don’t want to disrupt that progression just because he ‘could’ get in our team this season.

We don’t know how much this other player will actually play and if he’s covering a different position to give us something different and add competition within the squad, like Coulson has for example.

My point is why would we take on someone else’s 20-year-old player (that’s been injured all season) and help develop them for another team when we don’t develop our own players? On Saturday at 1-1 when Dembele was tiring we had nobody to bring on to change the game. Would have been the perfect time to bring on someone like Apter. I don’t understand, I really don’t.

Why on earth would you send Apter back to TR and then sign this lad? It makes no sense and unless we are going to sign a young player of the same quality as Dembele then what is the point? Weir barely played and when he did he was shit.

We either don't sign anyone and keep who we have or we sign one or two players who will be first team certainties, now is not the time to rehabilitate players for EPL youngsters.

So if Mansfield follow your plan they will become bigger than Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal etc? I think not. Return to Cloud Cuckoo Land!
Yep. No limit to how far you can scale or expand via online revenue sources. You just have to supply a great product or service. Angry birds is an example of this. With the emergence of the Saudi League the onfield talent will be diluted so onfield and with data informing training and fitness the difference between teams will narrow. The Man U’s of the world will still have catchment and first mover advantages but there has never been a better time to be a smaller club.

This buying players and sending them out on loan is delusional. We are in the old division three. We should sign players who are immediately ready to go into our team and have the ability to learn, grow and play at a higher level. If they can’t then we are not interested.

This is the Shrewsbury local journo saying that Shrewsbury manager has been told that Finnegan is signing for a league 1 team on a permanent. So might not be a loan which would make me happier about this.

Might make more sense if it was a permanent rather than a loan. Still a risk after a long-term injury. We need someone who can make an instant impact on the first team though. This doesn’t sound like that kind of player.

He's doing really well at Boro. Big Mick doesn't manage them. Also, City negotiated a big sell on clause apparently. Low fee, high sell on %.

Hopefully we get an experienced midfielder in, we need an old head at times, a promotion run in is not really the time to bed a kid into the team, puzzling but of course hope he turns out to be a gem.

Is there? On Saturday our only attacking option on the bench was Lavery who had to come on at half time due to an injury. The subs we made to try and win the game were then Gabriel and Virtue
From what I saw we should have won 3-0 at least, just missed massive chances. If properly deployed this squad really should be enough for 5th or 6th

Well you were obviously wrong with that bit of inside knowledge and you have one day left for your prediction of two incoming to be fulfilled. I hope you are correct, but your past record does not fill us with hope!
I’m not here to fill you with hope. I just pass on things I genuinely hear from a reliable source. I’ve never once made anything up, I don’t need to. I was told that Dougall would stay, but he didn’t. I did break the news about Critchley returning before anyone on here… why ?? Because I was told 10 days before that it was happening. I know we’re in for Moxon. I’ve never said we’ll end up getting him.

I really don’t care about the reaction I get.. the ignore button is there for a reason.

a reliable source that has never got anything right ... don't use your unreliable one !!

That Finnigan looks like it might be a perm and one for the future.

We take a chance on some guys in the hope we can develop and sell on, I don't have a problem with that. We have Morgan and Norburn as starters for the here and now, with Carey and Virtue as backup options.

A few weeks ago, after the Port Vale and Burton games, I said we need a clear out and a rebuild. The likes of Dale, Thompson, Tharme are just not good enough. We have to trust our recruitment team, Critchley and Sadler to get us through this window stronger than when it started. Dougall is the one player I didn't want to lose but keeping someone who wants to leave, isn't ideal either. I'll pass judgment on Friday and the dust has settled.

You sound pathetic

Pool won’t sign Byers or moxon as Simon dosnt want pool up
It’s to get funds in and trim the wages
Remember pool didn’t sign anyone in Last final day
Remember the statement next day saying us fans were out of order and running the club is more important than going up
If we go up we go up if not then it’s not the end
I’ve already said this in previous posts
Think Simon just wants stability at club
After last season

hope I am wrong , but we will see how ambitious pool are in today and tomorrow window , you buy to try and go up , not sell 2 players , one to a rival , Owen played in his right position might pip, pool to 6th place , after all he is a goal scorer and a provider to the strikers
owen moxon my personal opinion , be a perfect buy for pool and I like the idea of the sheff wed lad , not sure we need both thou

Didn't Critchley say he wanted to reduce the number of players in the squad? We have the players who can do well but a few injuries and we could be in trouble. I don't want us to buy players for the sake of it, they have to be better than who we have got rid of and first team ready players.

Do you honestly think this squad is good enough to take into a play off spot , I don’t , something isn’t clicking , no consistency ether
selling to Oxford regardless what fans think of Dale , isn’t good in football sense , yes financially it is 🤷

i will be stunned if pool buy anyone, unless it’s a loan or a free , last day of summer window , nobody , is it cost cutting again
Simon did say running the club probably is the priority, stability
