Dan Sassi

Very similar to the signing of Olly Casey. Little to no first team experience, but excelled at youth level.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned out straight away

If we get this lad, I'd say we've had a relatively decent window tbh. Got rid of some that aren't going to feature and got cover/upgrades in positions we needed

Centre back Sassi put pen to paper on a first professional contract with the Clarets in September 2022, signing a deal which runs until June 2025.

First joining from Stoke City in July 2020, the defender initially started out at Burnley as a scholar.

At the end of his two-year apprenticeship in the summer of 2022, the Uttoxeter-born defender extended his deal for another year before penning his professional contract.

Captaining the youth team for the first half of the 2021/22 campaign, the towering defender tallied 15 appearances in the U18 Northern Premier League and netted twice before progressing up into the U23s setup.

He would play every minute of the last eight Premier League 2 matches of the season and scored his first goal at that level with a winning header at home to Aston Villa in April 2022.

2022/23 saw what was known as U23s football revert back to U21s, and Sassi spent the season as the captain of Burnley's U21s as well as training frequently alongside Vincent Kompany's senior squad.

That'll do for me. Classic Critchly signing👍

This snippet from an U21 match last September sounds promising (and yes, I'm sure he's had poor games as well).....

"Sassi at the back stands out for me very much like Tarky.
Looks a class player, strong, quick and brilliant in the air"

Casey signed in June 21, but similar kind of thing yes.

He's left footed according to the Football Manager database. Show me someone with better intel than that and I'll show you a chancer!

Football Manager data base🤦

Blackpool Football Club is delighted to announce the arrival of Dan Sassi from Premier League side Burnley for an undisclosed fee.

The central defender has been a regular in Premier League 2 for Burnley U21’s as captain of the side.

Formerly of Stoke City, Sassi moved to Turf Moor in 2020, signing his first professional contract two years later, and has frequently stepped up to first-team training under Vincent Kompany.

Sassi now joins Blackpool, signing a contract until 2026 with an option for a further 12 months.

On signing for the Club, Sassi said:

"I'm looking forward to the challenge and meeting everyone here at Blackpool.

"I'm a defender who is good in the air and on the ball and will give everything for the Club. I've learned a lot over recent years, and now I'm ready to make that next step up. I can't wait to get going here."
