Third Test -India v England

No wonder Joe Root is getting so much stick losing his wicket to a dumb reverse sweep, just play conventional sensible cricket you absolute weapon, Bairstow is simply useless right now and a lot of good work by the top three is being wasted.

8 down and looks like another 100+ deficit. I hate to say it but Root needs to be dropped or moved down the order. He's been better with the ball than bat this tour and I feel it's just sacrilege seeing a player with his ability being ruined. Bazball shouldn't be brainless cricket, for players like Root, you just want them to play their normal game. You never know what you're going to get with England but this has been a disappointing day.

Our cricket team do know how to capitulate once they lose a wicket, going from a great position at the start of play to now facing almost certain defeat in the face, some of the dismissals were just plain dumb starting with the skipper Ben Stokes, at the time him and Foakes were sailing along quite nicely then he has a brain freeze.

To think some even said we were in the driving seat as well after close of play yesterday.

Very disappointing day for England so far and a big lead for India.

Really need wickets in the remaining time today or its curtains again.

Pathetic middle order batting hastens our collapse to 319ao. Usual culprits in Root and Bairstow. Neither worth their place in the side at present.
And all down to just one man again and if he hadn’t scored 153 we’d be dead and buried by now.

Meanwhile India can boast 2 centurions and a century combined for 2 debutants and that’s the difference and oh still no Kohli.

Looks like I've woken up to another abysmal effort by Yorkshire's finest. Root is doing a great job of tarnishing his career. As for Bairstow, how much more arrogant can he get? Yet another in a litany of crap reviews. Doh England. Now our bowlers are unrested. It's going to be too little too late I think coming back from this one.

The chink of light is that India are a bowler down and Ravi Jadejha isn't really that fit after his hamstringi jury. But we need to roll them over to have any sort of total to attack.

India are their main batsman down but you wouldn’t know it.

...or worse?
Root av 14
Bairstow 19
Or we could put it in the context of a career. I’m assuming (with your username) you’ve 20 years (at least) more cricket watching experience than me and you’ll understand that batters - even the best - dip in and out of form.

Root 49.6
Bairstow 36.9

There’s a sensible argument for Bairstow, not for Root.

I accept that but current form and confidence must be taken into account and both look bereft of both.

The other big thing in this Test is the amount of runs scored by the lower order, India ended up with around a 100 more runs than we did solely down to the tail wagging, our tail was rubbish to add to the poor middle order batters like Root and Bairstow.

You can see how this will play out now, India will set a target of 350-400 for us to chase batting last on a wicket that will be crumbling as each day goes by, and then the Indian bowlers will mop us up and win this Test comfortably.

Watching the Indian batsmen they are light years ahead of ours they just play so effortlessly 6’s being hit all over like it’s a T20 game.

122/1 already a lead of 248 with 9 wickets still left.

Game already gone I fear as it’s all turned very disappointing (again) 🙁

We were in the driving seat at close of play yesterday. Cricket is like that - swings and roundabouts.

The posts I’ve read this morning just back up what I said about AVFTT - the crowd on here seem to revel in the bad days. Loads of posts this morning about how crap we are even though the tests have been very close and we are currently 1-1 in the hardest away test series there is. Yesterday there was hardly any praise for a great day. Very odd.

I honestly don’t think we were in the driving seat to be honest not being still over 200 runs adrift.

There were some praise although I agree not a lot I praised Ducketts century but I also posted that someone has to stay with him sadly it didn’t happen and that’s the problem with this current England side.

India have 3 centurions already in this test match and as I posted previously the 2 debutant players scored over a hundred between them so the gulf in the two teams is massive even without Kohli.

No one said this series was going to be easy but we caved in this morning after a fantastic start 8 wickets for just over a hundred runs and that I’m afraid is England for you.

No one likes watching us lose but I’m afraid it’s all too predictable we’ve got players in this squad who in all fairness shouldn’t be anywhere near selection but as has been said already we don’t currently have anyone else to step up so having to stick with the likes of Bairstow and Root who are so much out of touch at the moment is becoming embarrassing and as much as I love him Anderson should be retired from selection.

Watching the last hour or so today I’ve never seen as many 6’s hit by India in a test match it was like watching a T20 game were miles adrift in both batting and bowling at the moment not good at all.

Lets face it, India are better than us in all departments, pace bowling, spin bowling, batsmen and to a lesser degree fielding.

Sure we may get the occasional win, but when that is the case there is only going to be one result in the series.

We are level with them at 1-1.

Yesterday was poor but we have competed with them toe to toe throughout the series so far.

To write off this highly successful English test side is very foolish.

Highly successful?
This test is all but lost baring a miracle so that’s 2-1.
I’m sorry but I don't think we’re good enough to win another match so it’s hardly a highly successful English side is it?
I admire you for your patriotism I really do but we’re light years behind a half strength Indian side.

Sure', the whole Bazball thing has been a breath of fresh air and so enjoyable since Baz started in his role, but for me India in India is the toughest test of them all, (their home record will tell you that), also you mentioned the word foolish, I don't think it's foolish at all based on what I've seen in the series so far, plain and simple they are a better side than us even without arguably their best two players Ashwin and Virat Kohli.

It's time for a Geoff Boycott boring few sessions to go for a draw rather than the gung ho cricket seen lately.

I never thought I would say that!!!

Thing is Wilf you just know more wickets are going to tumble today.

Probably end the day 3 or 4 wickets down.

Oh dear. I think Bairstow,'s time has come. At least Root talked him out of another daft review.

Bairstow is just an utter waste of a wicket he’s just embarrassing to watch these days.

Well we’ve got to 50 from being 28/4.

Game on. 🤣

Edit
Oh hang on make that 50/5 Root goes for 7 another batsman completely out of form.

Jesus Christ 50/6 Stokes gone now.

Could be all over tonight this.

Embarrassing it really is if this is Bazball and the future then God help us.
