Can we manage to get in and build a score or will we be 257 of 8 in no time
How not to play a test match!Glad I didn't get up to watch it.
And all down to just one man again and if he hadn’t scored 153 we’d be dead and buried by now.Pathetic middle order batting hastens our collapse to 319ao. Usual culprits in Root and Bairstow. Neither worth their place in the side at present.
Yeah I’d drop them both for the next test.Pathetic middle order batting hastens our collapse to 319ao. Usual culprits in Root and Bairstow. Neither worth their place in the side at present.
Not sure who's out there other than Lawrence. I assume Brook is still back home.Yeah I’d drop them both for the next test.
Any ideas who would replace them?
Nobody any better then. Not sure who's out there other than Lawrence. I assume Brook is still back home.
Root & Bairstow are passengers at the moment. Stokes needs to get into them.
And there lies the problem we don't have anyone any better out there so they play and fail.Nobody any better then.
India are their main batsman down but you wouldn’t know it.The chink of light is that India are a bowler down and Ravi Jadejha isn't really that fit after his hamstringi jury. But we need to roll them over to have any sort of total to attack.
Or we could put it in the context of a career. I’m assuming (with your username) you’ve 20 years (at least) more cricket watching experience than me and you’ll understand that batters - even the best - dip in and out of form....or worse?
Root av 14
Bairstow 19
I accept that but current form and confidence must be taken into account and both look bereft of both.Or we could put it in the context of a career. Root 49.6
Bairstow 36.9
There’s a sensible argument for Bairstow, not for Root.
I know a football club like that!... they have this massive back room staff, analysts, etc, where is the common sense?..
We were in the driving seat at close of play yesterday. Cricket is like that - swings and roundabouts. To think some even said we were in the driving seat as well after close of play yesterday.
Very disappointing day for England so far and a big lead for India.
Really need wickets in the remaining time today or its curtains again.
I honestly don’t think we were in the driving seat to be honest not being still over 200 runs adrift. We were in the driving seat at close of play yesterday. Cricket is like that - swings and roundabouts.
The posts I’ve read this morning just back up what I said about AVFTT - the crowd on here seem to revel in the bad days. Loads of posts this morning about how crap we are even though the tests have been very close and we are currently 1-1 in the hardest away test series there is. Yesterday there was hardly any praise for a great day. Very odd.
You do realise the series is 1-1 ?At least we are consistent...
We are level with them at 1-1.Lets face it, India are better than us in all departments, pace bowling, spin bowling, batsmen and to a lesser degree fielding.
Sure we may get the occasional win, but when that is the case there is only going to be one result in the series.
Highly successful? We are level with them at 1-1.
Yesterday was poor but we have competed with them toe to toe throughout the series so far.
To write off this highly successful English test side is very foolish.
Sure', the whole Bazball thing has been a breath of fresh air and so enjoyable since Baz started in his role, but for me India in India is the toughest test of them all, (their home record will tell you that), also you mentioned the word foolish, I don't think it's foolish at all based on what I've seen in the series so far, plain and simple they are a better side than us even without arguably their best two players Ashwin and Virat Kohli. We are level with them at 1-1.

Thing is Wilf you just know more wickets are going to tumble today. It's time for a Geoff Boycott boring few sessions to go for a draw rather than the gung ho cricket seen lately.
I never thought I would say that!!!
