What can you say? Half time, we'd conceded the softest of goals and maybe should have seen another couple go in, while we'd had one decent chance from a Lavery header go over the bar.

Second half was like there was a change in mindset and we went for it. We started picking up second balls in midfield and were on the front foot. The penalty was stonewall and despite my misgivings, Lavery buried it. From then on, we stayed on the front foot and should have had another penalty. The linesman seemed to give it, but the ref wasn't having it, maybe because it was too soon after the previous award.

We continued to press and the introduction of Beesley and Dembele gave us fresh impetus up top.

A late goal was the icing on the cake and a deserved three points from a second half where we ran the game.

Can we still get in the playoffs? Maybe, but whatever happens, we demonstrated we can compete with the better teams. We all know we've been rubbish against teams we should be beating, but a win's a win.

Lets celebrate that and not moan about previous games.

Onwards and upwards.

Good post Wizz glad you enjoyed the game. Re the non penalty award I agree the reason for not giving it probably was because it was do soon after the first. This however is, or should be, complete bollocks. A penalty is a penalty no matter when it happens.

thank the Lord we got the winner as the ref bottled the 2nd pen, why he didn’t go and at least talk to the Lino was criminal.

The ref lost the plot in the 2nd half, the bottling of that decision could have cost us. I've been critical of Critchley and some of the players but those kinds of performances can cost someone their job. Thankfully for once a deflection went in our favour but that shouldn't gloss over the idiot with a whistle.

Just a small point the officials are all mic'd up. He doesn't need to walk over to him.

Interesting point about winning second balls in midfield, because that’s something we’ve done nowhere near enough of.
We spend a lot of time playing ourselves into trouble at the back. Might sound a bit prehistoric but I’d much rather us try and hit our target man (not Lavery), with the midfield 3 all on their toes ready to pounce on the second ball.

How old are you? 😉

Haha 47.
Not everything new is progress, or better than what went before. I reckon the stats would show that every team bar Man City who try’s to play out from the back, more often than not plays themselves into trouble or ends up hoofing it in a panic anyway

There aren't many teams that don't teams pass out from the back now, right down into non league. Seems like progress to me, but there are varying degrees of it, most teams mix it up a bit, and we hit some long stuff ourselves. I went to City v Everton last and it was a pretty dull affair, like watching giant chess in a stadium with an announcer shouting WORLD CHAMPIONS! every five minutes.

I’m made up with the win, but yesterday also showed that the manager can turn things around, because whatever he said second half, worked.

Good substitutions, too.

Nice write up. Cheers. I missed it all yesterday due to work commitments.

Norburn Byers and Morgan is a hard grafting midfield and made a difference yesterday maybe this is the answer for now away from home with Dembele off the bench. Home games as we were, Dembele starting with one from Nobby or Buyers

Thought before yesterdays game both teams on a bad run of form, pressure will grow for whichever team loses, so whoever wins this will win Tuesday. Hope I am right. With potentially Rhodes to come back along with Bees, Kouassi and CJ we can mix it up Tuesday too keep them guessing.

Rhodes is a couple of weeks off. Won't be risked in the BSM.

That was the refreshing thing about Saturday and whatever Critch said fair play. Is that the first time we've got 3 points this season coming from behind?
