1st February 1975….

Great match. I was on the kop that day, surrounded by hordes of Sunderland fans. Sunderland had some great players, including Bobby Kerr and Dick Malone, who also played for the Pool. Walsh's strike was a worthy goal of the season.

Magic moments.

Was in the scratching shed almost level with the goal when Mickey Walsh’s goal of the season went in.

Probably one of the rare occasions in my life when I have been in the right place at the right time.

I was on the kop that day too. We'd just walked to the top to leave and a mate said turn round, we're going to score. And we did 🧡👍

Now that's what I call football! I was there. I have a (hopefully true) memory of being in the West rather than the usual spot in front of the toilets in the South. My Dad was there, possibly he wanted a seat. But great view of Mickey Walsh picking up the ball and setting off for goal. Brilliant game, everyone of both sides going for it. And a bit of an edge to put one over on Bob Stokoe who left 'Pool to go to Sunderland. Never a penalty - not even under VAR! Nearly 50 years ago. How can it be?

Was in the South Paddock to the left of the goal.
So was I. I can't remember why I was in the South Paddock that day as I usually went on the Kop. Maybe because it was a bit busy outside, queues and all that. Was in the right place for that goal though!

Scary shit after behind the Kop and our coach(Lancaster lot used to pick us up en route) only just made it out intact

id been pestering my old man to take me to a match for the whole of that season, he finally relented for the next home game after that sunderland game.

For some strange reason I was in the Scratching Shed for this game , instead of my usual spot on the Kop. A great view of Walshys goal though .

Team full of legends apart from fatty Alcock the Oyscum lover and Evanson who really was a soft **….. that few minutes sums up exactly how I remember him. 🧚‍♀️

Sadly I was only 8 3/4.

I've never failed to be grateful for the sheer coincidence that one of the best goals scored at home had the TV cameras there on an annual visit. So lucky to be able to see it, and goals like Ronnie Radford's.

Really it wasn't just GOTS. Tackle of the Season for the penalty (penalty my arse), and Budgie's save from it was actually awesome and not just for the save, but making the follow up so quick too.

50 years next year. Hopefully the club are planning something?

Thanks for that blood great memories , no fannys going down at the slighted touch ,proper mens game then and loved the white coat man behind the goal, remember it well 😆,great game and not many goals i have ever seen will match micky's that day.

I was there and arrived later than normal having played rugby for the school in the morning and entered the Kop through the East side turnstiles. Big mistake! I ended up in the middle of thousands of Sunderland fans. I ended up behind the goal and had to watch our first two goals in silence with fake anger.
I managed to move at half time and celebrate Walsh's winner.

That's one of the worst penalty decisions you'll ever see.

Make me laugh these old games where the refs look like they are about 65 years old.

2 things I noticed.......1 we had another BAD decision go against us.......about 10 seconds later in the footage a Blackpool player is tackled in exactly the same way..... and nothing.

The second thing I noticed was the different shades of Tangerine shirts from one player to another .... especially Alcocks shirt.....much darker than thd rest....

11 years old and only game I ever attended with both dad and grandad. Sat in south stand behind the stanchion ….saw the ball curl in and out sight …and in the top corner…..just a brilliant afternoon for many reasons 😍
