England Euro 2024 Kit Unveiled

It's laughable really to have Nike and woke in the same sentence. A multi billion dollar company with very questionable ethics to say the very least who have used forced labour in factories and sweat shops. I thought they were a scummy company already before any of this happenned.
 
Just a small point.

The cross of St George is also the Cross of Aquitaine. So in actual fact the flag of England actually came from France!

But anyway - identity matters and anyone thinking this is not important is simply wrong.

I do find it amusing that the same people who call everyone snowflakes for having a different opinion get so enraged at the colour of a symbol on a football shirt.
There's enough bad sh!t going on in this world to spend so much time getting angry at a football shirt that you probably wouldn't have bought anyway.
 
I know it isn't important in light of terrible events around the world but it's still ok to have an opinion about it.
It's an opinion not a rally cry. Some associate the George cross with racism and this move seems like bowing to them.
We have a manager who is holding the team back and insisting on playing an individual few want to see in the shirt out of stubbornness.
If that isn't bad enough we have this. If it wasn't done for controversy then a chain of influential idiots must of thought this was a good idea.
To me this demonstrates how out of touch they are. An England kit with an England flag - not a difficult concept!

At those prices Nike are going to need all the help they can get to sell them and all this free publicity is certainly helping in that regard. I quite like the purple one but I won’t buy it, not because of the price but because of the side panels.
 
It’s interesting trying to pinpoint when the St George’s cross became a ‘thing’ at football. Looking at pictures from the 50s-90s, it’s all Union Jacks.
On the cross controversy, no one gave a toss when the Olympics kits and previous England football kits messed with the flag.

You can clearly see the white was added to turn it into the St George's cross on one, and it's still St George's Cross on the other. The flag out line on the keepers kit fine. None of those in the article are pushing these bullsh1t Pride agendas, which is what it is. If you want to be that way inclined crack on with it but why parade round seeking approval. Cross dress it up how you like it's wrong and some idiot in the FA needs sacking. We don't change our countries flag for anyone, wars were fought to protect our country.

No argument there, it objectively isnt and I can see why people would want the actual accurate St.George's flag, I probably think it should have it too. But as evident in this thread different variations of it have been commonplace on kits for decades now and never mustered this much manufactured outrage. I think a more rational response against it would be something like 'good/bad kit overall but I would prefer the accurate flag and it's well over priced". Basically reasonable calm disagreements over a design choice. Think "disgraceful" is a tad melodramatic and the fallout from this exceptionally funny.

the key here is that if it isn't a red cross on a white background then it isn't a St Georges cross. It's that simple. There are no variations of it when it comes to colour. Any change of colour and then it is not a St Georges cross so therefore not the flag of England.

As I said in the post you are replying to this is objectively true and I don't have a problem with people wanting it to be the proper cross and being reasonably disappointed.

What I was remarking on initially was the hilariously over the top anger at the misguided belief it was something 'woke' or a gay pride flag. Which it isn't.
 
It will not happen, unfortunately, but I just wish the whole country would boycott the buying of these replica shirts, effectively giving a massive one or two-fingered salute to Nike and those imbeciles at the FA.

It would massively hit the Yanks big time, financially.

St George was actually a Turk of Greek origin, born in Palestine near Tel Aviv and served in the Roman army.
I guess there's an English connection somewhere along the line.
 
Just seen German media starting to lose it over the German national team switching to Nike from Adidas. Wait a couple of years for the Nike designers to include a playful take on a certain German symbol.
