Let’s get Yates back in summer

Not usually one to pine for former players but this is Jerry we’re talking about.

Taken off at 65 minutes today after a rare start and gets abuse every week from swans fans.

Fee might be out of reach but we could potentially get him back on loan. Sounds like he’s having a torrid time.

Also if Critchley stays and and persists with the system I think he’d really suit it.

Critchley is a Kyle Joseph guy so it's doubtful we'll see Yates back here again, unless it's with an opposition team like Leyton Orient (and Richie Wellens who suggested him to the club). He's just going to have to make it work with Joseph. Try and get him a full pre-season in, considering he was knowingly signed injured and hasn't been able to catch up since.

Jerry definitely brought some life to a lifeless club when he was here but he's just a memory now.

I was all for it until I realised you meant as a player and not the manager. Knowing us we'd pay more than we sold him for.

Just done a quick search on twitter for him and I would be surprised if he's still a Swansea player next season based off this.

'Lifeless club' ? What the fuck?

He was dropped quite often under critchley last time, I assume partly because of his social life when he was pictured out drinking on more than one occasion,he’s having a nightmare at Swansea but he’s far too good league one and I’m sure he’d be back like a shot if we get promoted which is as likely as Carlisle getting the relegation overturned and them going on to win the league
As for being a lifeless club in my 50 years of watching us we are anything but lifeless, take into account the premier league year, the boycott, the record breaking playoff wins, the having to apply for re election, the promotions, relegation’s, I could go on but I’m sure you get the gist
We are anything but lifeless just shite lately

Yeah we've mostly had something going on for good or bad. Some life and personality to it. That's sort of missing nowadays for me but that's how it is.

Even in the lockdown season you could see Yates had a buzz around him and wasn't just a body milling about on a TV screen with how he'd go and get the ball and sort it out himself at times. Northampton at home, Portsmouth away really stood out at the time. I miss him for that, certainly in L1.

I thought Swansea signed him to play as a second striker off Joel Piroe. But then they sold Piroe. So they've got their own thing going on there that he's got caught up in and with the manager changes.

Thinking about in the here and now and as you said yourself on Monday there's a bizarre mood around place, like no one cares. I didn't agree with the no one cares bit but it does need a spark.
If I was to try to put my finger on it, then I go for the total lack of personality from the management and probably the players too. There isn't a leader anywhere to be seen, on or off the pitch.

Magnolia FC sponsored by Blands Scaffolding.

Yeah probably a better way of saying it.

Give Gary Madine a one month contract to see how quickly he tries to forearm smash a centre half to try and get himself out of it again or something.

A couple of Swansea fans have said that he's lazy. If he's lazy for them then something must have seriously gone wrong. Apparently he only had 9 touches today in 65 minutes.

We’re skint . We can’t afford him . Remember when we use to spend 250k on players under the oystons ? Wish we still spent that on players 😩🍊

Maybe we could get him back on loan for a year, next season?

I'm sure Jerry would love to come back home. 👍

The only problem I can see, as usual is Critchley!

Reckon he would come back in a heartbeat. Also it would lift the crowd massively. Imagine the atmosphere if he was in our starting 11 come August

Sadler won't part with money unless it's on the infrastructure. He's as clueless as his head coach when it comes to football. He's more than happy with how things are.

There will be a queue of Championship clubs lining up to take him off Swansea's hands. Bolton if promoted, Blackburn and god forbid even the Knobbers. Also factor in Critchley who can't handle players with a bit of character.
Bolton is a good call. He would thrive under Evatt 👍.

He will be on too much money for this league if we are going to break the bank to sign a player I would go for Dembele as he will get better and better with age and experience.

Critchley did his best to ruin Jerry. He never gave him regular football, he was always in and out of the team. He only flourished when played regularly by the two managers who replaced him and he flourished in a struggling side. I would have him back tomorrow.

Come on we must realise now that it never works 2nd time round with Manager or players. Sadler already pays 4 strikers wages who do very little for the club

You’re talking utter crap - let’s forget the million plus spent on players in the summer on Norburn and Joseph plus paying Rhodes wages then Byers wages in January. Conveniently forgetting or is it just old age fella ???

Are you forgetting the Yates sale, the Bowler sale before that?

I note that you've failed to mention the surplus he's made on transfers!
I'm not up Sadler's arse like you but enjoy your coupling 🤡

Sorry but 💶 talks, and other clubs will offer him far more money than we can. Forget it and let’s move on and find the next Jerry Yates for a fraction of the money.

Back to this again….

Read the club financial accounts. They’re free to download. Club is making £4-5m loss as player cost is both wages and transfer fees.

So how much more should the owner spend on players each season? £10m a season? £15m?

Try looking at individual elements re transfers. Your last sentence is foolish. £1m wouldn't go amiss would it, or does that not suit your argument?

Can’t understand the obsession with Yates

Going out on a limb here, but it might, just might be the fact he had a 23-goal season for us in a promotion year, worked his arse of and had a really good rapport with the fans. Also bagged quite a few in a side that were stinking out the Championship in a relegation season, while still giving it his all.

Would have him back in a heartbeat and I'm not one usually for all the daft 'bring back Holloway' et al posts.

Ok so if we add an additional £1m and make it a £6m loss then you’re happy again?

I’m not trying to make an argument I’m stating that you cannot look at how a club is run without understanding the real cost of everything involved. Last accounts showed a large loss. You cannot then just say “we made a surplus on transfer fees” without understanding where that money went after that.

In the vermin years that went into Oystons pockets. Under SS it goes into running the club, players wages and infrastructure.

You can however, question if where the money was spent was wise and well invested? You’re just basically asking for more money to be spent on top of the money now.

I've run a business so know exactly all the elements of expenditure involved.
Also, I know that owning a football club is completely different as it will entail costing money especially if there's an ambition to bring success on the field. I'm far from certain that our owner has or is willing to invest sufficient funds to achieve this.
5 years into his ownership and we're back in league1.
